Rica Kristiansund

A very very tired hotel, verging on the shabbiest hotel I have stayed in. I would seek alternative accommodation on a future trip to Kristiansund.

The Scandic Kristiansund hotel is located quite close to the city center and to one of the departure points for the ferry that connects the city's various islands. The path from the parking garage to the hotel is difficult with suitcases, as there is no direct elevator and only stairs are available. So you should drive to the reception first, unload, and then park. You have to pay in the parking garage, currently (July 2026) 120 NOK. To pay, there is one on the 2nd. floor in the parking garage, a small orange machine. The reception at the hotel was very friendly and check-in was efficient and fast. The hotel staff were extremely attentive and friendly. The hotel, however, would need a general overhaul. Much is no longer in good condition. The room was good and spacious, however, in the bathroom, the faucet was loose and the toilet flush did not work very well. There is no safe in the hotel room, just as there is no bar in this hotel. However, you can get various drinks at the reception. The breakfast buffet was extraordinarily good and offered a very good selection. Checking out was again very efficient and fast. In short; very nice staff and a very good breakfast in a hotel that has seen its best days in terms of current equipment.

We booked a room for five people (two adults, three teens). The welcome at the reception was very pleasant, but there also stopped the ride. When we got into the room we were very disappointed. Nothing was clear for us: Mattress chaos: When the sofa was to be wiped out, it turned out it was broken. The room was eventually filled to the edge of improvised beds and stacks of mattresses. Bathroom temperature: It was unbearably hot in the room, and the fan we were distributed was defective and did not swing. The receptionist at the evening guard saved us: She stood alone in the storm with too much to do, but kept the good mood and saved our stay by personally tracking up and carrying in beds and mattresses. She deserves five stars and a big thank you! The hotel itself is a huge disappointment. That it is holiday time and undercrew does not excuse renting out damaged rooms that are barely worth a penny. Steer away.
