Authentic and cozy hotel with a fantastic location and a beautiful view to the snow covered lake and the mountains in the horizon.
The rooms are cozy and the atmosphere is relaxing. We went there with two kids and enjoyed the excellent buffet and the facilities.
Our travels plans changed so we had to leave one day earlier than scheduled. The hotel staff fixed this in a very professional way.
I can recommend this hotel to everyone.

We stayed one night at Fefor Høyfjellshotell in August for the Peer Gynt Festival play at the Gålå Lake. It was an all-inclusive festival package including food on arrival, chamber music concert in the bar area before dinner, transport to the play in the evening, transport back to the hotel at night after the play, hot soup at midnight and breakfast the next morning. The hotel markets itself as a historical place, and this is right. Old-style Norwegian interiors in the common areas. The staff were very welcoming and kind. The hotel was clean and neat. Our room was large but could have done with some basic maintenance. The bed was soft and we slept very well.
The problem for myself as a vegetarian was all the stuffed animals in the reception area. This is in keeping with the style of the hotel but looks like a chamber of horrors for someone who does not eat meat or fish or are vegan. Many Norwegians are keen hunters and would probably think this was perfectly normal. Nevertheless society is changing as is how people relate to fellow living creatures. These animal "trophies" disturbed me and I avoided the reception as far as possible.
As for the food, I was able to find a variety of vegetables on the huge buffet selection served up for dinner. For dessert, an assistant from the kitchen had to come and provide information about which puddings and cakes did not contain gelatine as dishes were not labelled.

The staff was of the highest class; attentive, friendly and interested in providing information tailored to who we were. The food was absolutely delicious, of local raw materials. We were treated with live, classical music in the festival hall and lectures about Oeer Gynt and Ibsen. The hotel is beautifully located at Fefjirdvstn and over 900 m. Everybody should experience this place 🙂 🙂
