Chateau Apartments

We stayed here many times for the weekend. With children, it is cheaper to get an apartment over two hotel rooms for a weekend. This place was always quiet and comfortable to stay at. It is a short walk to the city center. The rooms were always nice and clean and the staff helpful.

I booked a 3 bedroom apartment for 1 month at this place due to its location and price. The reviews people did leave on their website also seemed to be nice. But after I had done the booking did i realize that it was not all that good. I am writing this with respect to how a family would feel like if they booked a room there. The day i was supposed to receive the keys i tried calling the person supposed to send me the key code by sms. He did not pick up the phone and i started to panic as i was already in my car stuffed with things and about to reach Oslo in 30 minutes. Kept trying and then tried their security person (eastern european) who was extremely rude and did not want to give me the main persons number. But somehow convinced him to call the manager (eastern european) who then send the sms after 1 hour. After moving in, saw that the walls were dirty, very cheap fittings. Very old, dirty and used furnitures. There was a sofa that was so dirty that i had to take it and throw it out of the apartment due to the fear that my son will sit on it and get some disease or sorts. They said they could not find any replacement either. So made do with just a 2 seater sofa in a 3 bed apartment for the rest of the stay. The rooms first had no proper heating got their technician to come 3 times and he kept turning it really hot and then really cold. He had no clue what he was doing or talking. The cleaners would come once a week and were faster than lightning. would clean just areas that was easily accessible and if you dont look would run of without doing anything. It seems they have 15 minutes for each room. So can't really blame them but the management. A lot of workers working in construction keep coming and going. Can be scary at times in the night when you seem some people just waiting outside the door, waiting for you to open first and they just walk in with you. They disappear to one of the floors. The corridors are smelling of cigarette smoke all the time. Did see some really shady women coming and going. I think they were night workers...(haha)...! Mostly its filled with eastern europeans coming to work in Oslo...as told by the cleaning staff and they also said that the rooms that the bachelors did live in were so filthy that they were afraid of cleaning in there. There is pub on the back side of the building and seems to be highly rated as good pub in the area. The downside is that on weekends the noise is audible in your bedrooms. The manager running the place is a total jerk. There is no reserved parking place...just roadside parking. But the positive side of it is that .....it is very central and close to good transport.

Big beds and very comfy and very spacious rooms. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything. Easy checkout. Close to city center. One extra bathroom, in the booking was said that we will have one bathroom but when we got the room there were two. In front of the hotel there is a river. Everything was clean.
