Kvikne's

We had booked rooms in the old part and got confirmation on the stay. At the front desk we showed the confirmation, but they found out the room was not available anyway. We were offered rooms in the "Soviet block" behind the old building. Still, my credit card had been charged with the price of the room we originally booked. What was most disappointing was that both of the two in the reception could not speak a word in Norwegian, and not very good English either. In addition, we received an email after returning home where they wrote that the reason we had to change rooms was that we did not want rooms with carpets on the floor, which is not true at all. The reason we chose Kviknes hotel was just to get overnight in the old hotel.

A stunning hotel, in serene surroundings! We stayed in the newer side, with a spacious room overlooking both the water and village. The room had both a bed and couch for indoor seating, as well as an outdoor balcony. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast at the hotel, and both were excellent. If you’re doing the “Norway in a Nutshell” tour, you won’t be disappointed with an overnight stop here!

Stayed for six nights with Newmarket Tours. Excellent hotel, the food, the staff and the service were all top notch. The room furniture was a bit dated, but the rooms were spotlessly cleaned and well serviced with clean towels every day if required. All in all an excellent stay in Balestrand.
