We had a demi-suite in the original building with a nice balcony overlooking the fjord. I can't imagine staying in Balestrand and not staying here. This hotel really made our stay so special. We loved the breakfasts - many foods to choose from and lovely views. Suggestions -- have warm, soft boiled eggs (instead of cold hard boiled eggs) and it would be nice to have a pot of tea (instead of having to wait to for refills by the servers) and different types of tea available. The common areas were beautiful and felt very historic. There is a coffee/tea service in the evening - could start a little earlier. The smorgasbord dinner was good - especially the crab legs -- but felt very crowded around the food area once the tour groups arrived. The main course options could be better for the price.

Got room because Balestrand Hotel had overbooked. And I guess it was an upgrade. Easy to park, and nice welcome. And beautiful location and main building, which attracts op. Hotel and rooms smell and look like 1986. And that's exactly what one wants in such hotels. The room was OK. Of course little sockets and poor water pressure in the shower. Otherwise okay. Dinner at the bar was straightforward, although it should be possible to get a beer larger than 0.3l. Breakfast a little under expectation for a Classic hotel.

The hotel is very well located, right in front of two fjords, with stunning views. In the oldest part, the rooms are spacious but require renovation and small arrangements. Breakfast is special because of the variety of options and the view of the lounge. The employees are friendly.
