Fretheim

This is a perfectly adequate hotel but the only reason to stay here is the access it provides to the scenic train and boat rides. Room was ok. Buffet dinner was very good. But there’s just this nagging feeling that it’s a pretty ordinary property that only exists to hold tourists captive since so little competition. Having said that my impression was that it was the best of few options

Lovely location but really expensive for what you get. Bed was uncomfortable, towels were thin and threadbare and there was nothing luxury to warrant the eye-watering price. If you’re going to the area try to book somewhere as early as possible so you don’t have to pay those prices!

A lovely historic hotel with friendly staff & a great breakfast selection (particularly enjoyed the 'brown cheese' - a Norwegian goat cheese that's expensive in the UK). It's worth paying extra for the front facing rooms for the view of the Fiord. Very well kept & clean hotel. A little expensive. No air-conditioning is provided, but we had requested a fan and that had been provided in the room prior to arrival. There are some nice public areas with views of the Fiord where you can sit, including the tower room above the hotel. Location is great for everything in Flam & beyond!
