Costabella Tropical Beach

Finding the resort without the Waze app can be a little tricky. The location and the design of the houses and buildings really give off a Filipino cultural vibe. We stayed in a Junior Suite Seaview room on the 5th floor, including breakfast for 3 adults. We booked it through Check24 for around €1,500 for 1 week. Tip: If you book for 3 people through Check24 and the room is suitable for 3 guests, you still need to request the extra bed in advance. Otherwise, the resort may charge an additional PHP 2,000 per night for it. Normally, this should already be understood when we provide the guests’ birthdays/details on Check24. Thankfully, the resort did not charge us extra. The room itself was a little disappointing. The design was beautiful and had an antique style, but the bathroom definitely needs renovation, and the carpet should be replaced. The faucets had visible rust, which was very noticeable. The shower water pressure was also poor, and the water did not flow properly. The rubber lining underneath the shower door was already black and should really be replaced. In addition, the shower door was covered with limescale and clearly needed proper cleaning with anti-limescale products, not just soap and water. Our main door also seemed damaged and was no longer in good condition. Regarding the food and drinks: the Filipino dishes were really delicious, but the prices for the à la carte menu were very expensive. The beach mostly had seaweed/moldy areas, although there were still some spots where you could comfortably walk and enjoy the water. The pools were fantastic, and the private beach gave us a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The most outstanding person in terms of service for us was Mr. Mark from the breakfast staff. He always greeted us with a smile and made us feel welcome. We also noticed that he treated all the other guests with the same kindness and professionalism. Very kind person.

Had a large room in this out of date resort. Room AC was very unpleasant, room smelled of dampness and towels worn out. Fitness room is neither properly ventilated nor duly air conditioned, and very crambed. Breakfast buffet offering was fairly limited and unappealingly presented.

It is a super nice hotel where things are controlled. The restaurants deliver great food. Pool, beach and harbour area are clean, nice and in order. Nice rooms with good bed and fridge. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Could easily come again, but be aware that prices are slightly higher than elsewhere in the Philippines.
