Cebu Parklane International

I couldn't help but feel that the Cebu Parklane International Hotel has seen much better days. While it clearly used to be a premier, vibrant hub with a fantastic location near the business park, the property now feels quite rundown, showing a lot of wear and tear that makes it seem stuck in the past. It feels like the hotel never fully recovered from the pandemic and Typhoon Odette. The entrance and lobby are impressive and confirm my impressions, but they desperately need a revamp. The hallways—it must be said—have very basic but decent maintenance, though the quality of the work shows good intentions but poor results. The rooms are a good size but feature a very complicated layout of light switches everywhere. The bathroom is adequate, but the windows are not soundproofed; the street noise is so loud it gives you the feeling that you are sleeping right under a traffic light below. The staff is still polite, and the location is great, but the infrastructure desperately needs an upgrade to match today's standards. Will I return? Yes. For the price, the location, and considering that the pros still outweigh the cons—yes, I would.

A room with two queen beds for two nights was around $178 USD for two nights (11000 php, 152 Euros, 254 Australian dollars). Room includes micro/fridge. It is listed as 3-star. If partial stars existed, I'd call it 3.8. Property has two restaurants/bars and a cafe (no comment. we did not eat here). It has a beautiful gym and swimming pool that we did use. There is a small convenience store on the lobby level that sells snacks and souvenirs. The room was very clean. The floor passed my "white-sock" test with 8.5/10. The bath room was modern and clean. The shower was borderline luxurious. Location: Ayala Mall is a two-minute walk. Mactan Airport is a 30-minute drive. Parking is free in the basement garage. This was not our first stay at this hotel. It will not be our last. Great staff.

This is the most alarming hotel experience I have ever had. At 2:25 a.m. on 16 February, while my husband and I were asleep, a member of hotel staff knocked quietly and then proceeded to open the door to our room (Room 1512). This was an unauthorised entry. No explanation was provided at the time, and none has been provided since. This was not a minor inconvenience — it was a serious breach of safety, privacy, and trust. Guests should feel secure in their rooms, especially in the middle of the night. I was fortunate not to be travelling alone or as a vulnerable guest; had this happened to someone elderly or unaccompanied, it could have been genuinely frightening and unsafe. What makes this situation worse is the hotel’s handling afterward. I raised the issue immediately and was explicitly told by a staff member named Ryan that management would respond the same day. That response never came. I have since checked out, yet it appears the hotel assumed that once I left, the incident would simply be forgotten. It has not been. I also informed Booking.com, who were similarly advised that the hotel would respond. To date, there has been no acknowledgment, explanation, or accountability from management. The lack of urgency, communication, and responsibility following such a serious incident is deeply concerning. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who values personal safety and basic guest security.
