Bahia de Baler

After my bad experience of 2 days in the Bahia. The garden suites of Costa Pacifica. We logged a final complaint with the management. We never got to see hotel manager. However reception manager was great. We had our room upgraded to a suite in Costa Pacifica with a sea view. Costa Pacifica in not my favorite place, i do like to stay in the Bahia it is less large hotel and more intimate. Great that the manager gave an upgrade however my previous review stands on the Bahia. I have stayed in this Hotel at least 6 times. i also had my wedding in the Bahia Pavilion. The waiting staff and security staff are very friendly and always greet you with a smile and hello. I know that the review of my comments by management at Costa will be a standard text answer as per all their responses. They will not learn from my comments. Costa is the best hotel in Baler it is owned by Senator Angara. The rest of the hotels are cheap and sub standard to western cliental. Unless on a tight budget and back packing. In Summery. Thanks for the upgrade but it should be unnecessary if you get it right first time.

Paid over 6,000 Pesos for a room with no amenities, towels, fridge, glasses, water boiler, etc. the towel rack and light in the bathroom was broken as well. We tried to get assistance, but after several attempts, we just gave up. If you book a room at Costa Pacifica and they put you in this hotel, demand a refund or a substantial discount.

Bahia de Baler, which is advertised as a separate hotel is actually completely owned and operated by Costa pacifica. They even use the exact same rate sheet and deceptive pricing policy. Costa pacifica advertises one room rate but charges you nearly 20% more at check out due to a hidden "service fee" assessed on each room each night. This dishonest practice allows them to complete with honest hotels with its published rate while collecting substantially more than its customer think that they will be paying at check out. This practice was one popular about a decade ago but has largely died out due to consumer backlash. It is even illegal in some countries. Their rooms, by the way, are already grossly overpriced for what you get at the published rate. Also, this hotel is NOT on the beach it is across the alley near Costa pacifica and the view is blocked by buildings in front. It does have a nice pool though.
