Nil-Pol Apartments

Stayed at an apartment w/2 bedrooms (TV in each room), one w/full futon, one with 2 single beds. Kitchen fully equipped (no microwave), shower/bathroom, veranda facing main street - so a bit noisy from main street traffic. When we closed the window it was OK - noise reduced to reasonable level so we could sleep. Only 5 min. walk from Central train station (off palace of culture), and across the street from Metro. 10 minutes walk from old town. Very good location, very convinient apartment. kind and knowledgable staff. Warmly recommended. just above a (very good) shawarma place open til 1am (at least) which may contribute to noise, but gives you a very tasty late night meal.

We were uncomfortable here. The entrance to the place is on the main road between a sex gadget shop and a Kebab place. All night the kebabs smell kept coming into the rooms. Small cramped shower, very basic. bunk beds for three of us. The door had too many locks, steel reinforcement and dead bolts which made me think of Queens in NYC on the 80's. Avoid it.

I've stayed here a couple of times. The location is good. The apartments are simple but nice. The rooms at the front of the building are noisy and there can be smells from the kebab shop on the ground floor. My main problem with this place and why I'll never stay there again is their booking system. Twice I have booked well in advance only to find out when I was staying there that they couldn't accommodate my whole stay. I was left with no were to stay. I could have been told that before I arrived and booked somewhere else. It was very upsetting as I was a woman on my own with no where to stay. I've never received an apology for the their mistake either.
