Hotel Marina

A management free zone, this hotel offered nothing, no restaurant, no bar, no ice. It is appallingly noisy, badly sound proofed and our nights sleep was destroyed by a noisy wedding party that seemed completely out of control between 2 and 5 in the morning. If VFdeC is to become a serious tourist attraction something needs to be done about this hotel. Breakfast was marred by an instant coffee machine, hard to believe. Avoid unless absolutely necessary.

It's basic knowledge that bacteria doubles themselves in 30 minutes in a tropical climate like in the Azores. Yet, this hotel can not handle the most basic in terms of hygiene. See the attached pictures taken in the bathroom (toilet ring and sink) in our room (103). Also the public areas in the hotel are dirty and in general need of refreshment.

This is a max 3* hotel. Location is okay with a great view of the marina, very close to get the boat to the Islet. No wi-fi in the rooms. Barely we got signal in the reception and only in certain areas. Many times we had to ask them to restart it. The rooms smell like mold, very bad, the sheets and towels were clean. The drain wasn't working at our sink. We didn't use the AC as we kept the balcony door open to hear the waves. However, people were smoking at the ground level and many times we had smoke coming in. The bed was very hard and when we complained and they put a bed cover which it helped. The rooms/bathrooms really need an upgrade and which hotel doesn't have wi-fi these days! Breakfast terrible. Hair in the omelet, bad coffee, cheap cold cuts. The parking is very small so many times we had to park outside of the gate.
