Alto do Moinho

Alto Do Moinho, ( not sure where the cheerfulway comes from, it is just called Alto Do Moinho) is a really lovely small resort, geared up for families that we have stayed at for over twenty years. The grounds are beautifully managed and the pool area is superb. However over recent years some owners seem to be marketing their properties for stag and hen parties who act as stag and hen parties do (enthusiastically) The issue is the few owners that market for these parties do not care that that the other people using the site do not want to be woken up at 5am nor listen to people swearing and acting in a lewd fashion at the pool in front of their families. The stag and hen parties, have nothing to do here, other than drink and so that is what they do, when I spoke to a hen party they would rather be in the action at the strip rather that have the hassle of people with families telling them to calm down and behave. My advise to anyone considering this resort for a stag or hen, is to stay elsewhere where you will be better catered for to ralax and enjoy your event. This resort is heavily more aligned for a family holiday and you will be bored here. (Also the food and drink is much much cheaper in East Albufeira)

We stayed for 10 days at our friends apartment,,the complex itself has a swimming pool...chilly!! A cafe bar, which has a tiny shop included, the area is very clean and well kept. You are on a hill, so the view is looking down onto Albufeira beach, it's about ten minutes walk down and a bit longer back!! but you are near enough,but also far enough away to have some peace and quiet.It was perfect for us and we are hoping to go again next year.

We have stayed in different apartments at the windmill complex 3 times and really enjoyed it. Not overcrowded, lovely pool, super Portuguese couple who run the bar and snack bar and, more recently, a small restaurant in the Windmill itself. The best apartment in our opinion is B05 which is sited near to the pool but cleverly private and only 25 paces ( yes I counted it) from the poolside. Every morning we have breakfast on the terrace al fresco after doing 20 lengths of the pool for early morning exercise. The grounds and gardens are well maintained, and any issue you may have is resolved quickly. The owner of our apartment is helpful, and accommodating and goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable and enjoy your stay. What more could you ask for!
