Pestana Porches Praia

Great Time with family. Other family met us and the caves were great

Came here for a week with my wife, daughter and son-in-law and 3 grandsons under 6. We normally stay at the Pestana Promenade in Funchal but wanted a beach holiday for the boys. We had two apartments and location and quality were excellent. We swam in the sea - beach 2 minute walk. As well as the Viking hotel pools and the apartments pool near the Belmondo restaurant. Had a lovely time including the eldest lad being able to swim with a dolphin at Zoomarine. As his mum had done as a girl in Florida. Special mention to Teresa Mogo responsible for customer relations. From having to deal with my e-mails before arrival and giving us great info. To greeting us on arrival and departure and sorting out taxis. She was a great professional…dare I say …an angel. Made the week even smoother.

We have really enjoyed our stay here and the apartment was a great space to relax and make our home for a week. Porches is a quieter area of the Algarve but within east reach of main towns and only 50 mins to Faro. The beaches and cliffs are stunning and boat or kayak trips are available to the caves. We went from Benagil for a two hour kayaking trip which was wonderful. The apartments are right opposite a fabulous Italian restaurant Belmondo which I can highly recommend. If you like caramelised nuts try the almond pie, it’s amazing. We were on the ground floor and had visiting cats, Felix and Tiger and a very friendly seagull. They all loved sliced chicken which was cheaper than cat food!! I would recommend a car if you stay here. When we were here the roads were really quiet and driving was easy. Parking is mostly free except in big towns.
