Praia do Burgau

AVOID Hotel Burgau Turismo de Natureza Hotel in its 70s style, only the price has been adapted! We booked a superior double room with sea view with breakfast at the rate of €245 for one night. When we arrived we were surprised by the dilapidation of the establishment and the superior room apart from a magnificent view of the sea! Air conditioning so noisy and inefficient, cannot be used at night despite the heat. In addition, 12€ included for breakfast: no bread! Jam, honey, toast but no bread! Go on your way because we stayed the previous days in 4* hotels in the region, with sea views, high-end furniture and equipment for a lower price.

I didn't know Burgau, I liked the tranquility, the walks in nature, the stunning view that accompanied us to Praia da Luz and the old cabins. The hotel is ***, with a slightly higher price for what it offers. Breakfast is included in the rate, it has the essentials, the butter is vegetable, the hot breakfast is repeated daily: boiled eggs, chorizo and bacon. However, the staff is friendly, the space is clean, the decoration is allusive to the environment that surrounds the hotel, simple but beautiful, with a style that fits in with nature and the view of the sea and its sands. Clothes are changed every three days or if necessary. The hotel advocates sustainability, preservation of the environment and water resources. We were well received, our stay was pleasant. The herbal infusions and biscuits that the hotel offers as a courtesy to its guests were a moment much appreciated by us, on the terrace of the dining room. Overall our stay was welcoming and peaceful.

I can't provide a personal review of the hotel myself since it was one of my friends who stayed there. However, I can certainly comment on the prices at the pool, which I found to be a total rip-off. The hotel owner seemed very friendly and offered my friend the opportunity to invite his travel companions for a day by the pool. However, the owner failed to mention the €10 entrance fee per person (there were 11 of us in total). To make matters worse, they charged an exorbitant €10 for a portion of "Home made" potato fries, consisting of only 8-10 pieces. For 6 portions, we ended up paying a staggering €60! This pricing is outrageous and clearly a rip-off. I struggle to comprehend how the owner expects to retain customers or receive positive recommendations with such inflated prices. We would have been more inclined to recommend the hotel if they had more reasonable and "normal" prices. Stay away!
