Tivoli Marina Vilamoura

This was our 6th year staying here and while there a lots of positives we have decided that this will be our last. Check in is very quick and easy and our room is normally ready before 12pm which is great. The rooms are a good size but are becoming a little dated. This year was the first year that we saw major sunbed wars - you are not allowed to put towels down and reserve beds and the pool are isn’t officially open until 9am but we regularly saw loungers with towels/bags on them well before 9am and the hotel staff didn’t do anything about this. One day we saw loungers reserved from 9am and the users did not appear until 4pm - you go on holiday to relax and not worry about whether you are going to get a sun lounger or not. The location is fabulous, right on the marina which is great for bars and restaurants especially as the hotel prices are extortionate 5euros for a small beer. They do sun lounger service which is lovely even if the price is not 😊 The main reason we won’t be staying again is the music. The pool area has music playing through various speakers all day - this on its own is fineBUT you also have music blaring from the Purobeach beach area and the Purobeach pool area, so 3 different sound systems playing different music - not relaxing at all. If the hotel would sort out the music and sunlounger situation we would be back but until they do, we won’t.

Back for a forth time. Easy check in and great cafe experience to relax in. Room its self was clean comfortable and spacious unfortunately our balcony facing the marina was not to the same high standards of cleanliness. The pool area was fantastic and the free magnum ice cream were a real treat. Loads is sun loungers call times. As it says you couldn’t get a better location by the marina. We will definitely come back again but will be careful with the room selection.

Spent a week here in July , location is excellent facing the Marina , hotel overal good , but there is room for improvement. The grounds and gardens are well kept but the pool is definitely not large enough for peak season , more of a dipping pool which does the job to cool off but had to time when you go in ! Unless up at 7 am you would be unable to get a sun lounger that wouldn’t be shaded by trees at some point . Pool bar staff friendly and helpful though , Breakfast buffet had loads to choose from , but the staff not the best unfortunately, not very welcoming on entering simply asking for room number and confirming your name then sometimes taking you through to be seated sometimes not , a smile and a greeting goes a long way ! Had an incident in the breakfast serving area , which I really wasn’t very happy about , the beautiful fresh fruit in individual bowls of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries had different serving utensils, flat head tongs , strawberries and blackberries, needle point tweezers blueberries and raspberries, noted other residents either shuffling some on their plate or using the tongs, I was spoken to very abruptly that I shouldn’t use the tongs as will damage the fruit , the lady proceeded to use the tweezers and started placing the fruit on my plate , after 3 she asked if that was enough , I replied no , then repeatedly told 3 time to think of others ! As far as Im concerned fine tweezer tools are used by a chef for delicate placement , not a serving tool to limit produce in a 5 star hotel ! And as for placing food on my plate in an irritated manner not acceptable! Also noted by ourselves and other residents coffee was like getting water in a desert ! Others and us had to go over and ask for it . Breakfast great choice but service not good !
