Dunamar Hotel Apartamentos

Just returned from a lovely holiday here. Rooms were great, cleaned everyday. Pool bar staff were lovely and friendly and the food was good. They have a no reserve sun bed policy but I wouldn’t say they were that strict on that as noted a few who put towels on bed and went to the beach. The only negative I would say is that they do not allow anything in the pool, no balls which a lot of the kids including my boys like to play volleyball and no inflatables for the young ones. At times kids were playing catch and volleyball and were told off, yet they were not obstructing anyone in the pool. Just seems very strict for a family hotel.

I’m really surprised at the amount of bad reviews for this hotel! We had a lovely stay. Yes, the bathrooms and kitchens are a bit dated but the whole apartment was spotless. The beds were comfy and the view was amazing. We found it to be very quiet so I can’t understand the noise complaints. There was a bit of noise from kids playing in the pool during the day but that’s to be expected. The hotel is in a great location, the beach, bars and restaurants are in easy walking distance. Most of the members of staff were very friendly and helpful, from reception to cleaners, maintenance and the staff behind the bar in the evening, all were lovely. The food and waiters at the pool bar were great too, however there was an issue with the ladies working at the pool bar and they are the reason this is a four star review instead of a five. They were beyond obnoxious. They’d serve you as and when they felt like it and just ignore you until then. If there was someone Portuguese at the back of the queue, they’d serve them first whilst still ignoring everyone else. They argued, loudly, with each other and slammed the doors to the kitchen repeatedly. One of the waiters tried to help out and promptly got screamed at. They were awful and I’m surprised they’re allowed to get away with such behaviour. Despite that, we still really enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year.

I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The cleanliness was acceptable, but the food was a major letdown. Breakfast was exactly the same every day with very little variety. Lunch was quite poor, and dinner wasn’t much better. The best thing they served during our stay was the watermelon. The staff spoke very little English, which made communication difficult, and they were not particularly friendly or welcoming. On the positive side, the hotel is only a 2-minute walk from the beach and has direct beach access. Overall, my experience at this hotel was not pleasant, and unfortunately, I would not recommend staying here.
