MAGNIFICENT HOTEL IN A MAGNIFICENT PLACE. Located in an old palace near Coimbra, a 4-star hotel that in Spain would be a National Parador of the highest consideration. Great room, with all the details. Extremely comfortable bed and pillows, a very spacious bathroom where everything works perfectly, bed linens, towels, bathrobes... all of the highest quality that gives a sense of the select place you are in. Magnificent salons of palatial category, coffered ceilings... A set that provides very pleasant sensations. Not a single annoying noise, not even in the room (which is unusual), perfectly soundproofed. Very well-prepared cuisine, both in the perfect selection of products and in its preparation. A great 4-star hotel with a totally affordable and more than reasonable price for the place. The service, impeccable, completes the great appeal of this hotel, which stands out from the usual "functional hotel" for its comfortable class.
Lovers of the most "modern functionality" may disagree with the carpet in the room. In my opinion, a clean and well-maintained carpet is a comfort complement, and any scruple is resolved with hotel slippers.

A convenient hotel for the Conimbriga Roman ruins and if you don't want the hassle of driving in or near Coimbra. Comfortable enough with spa facilities that they kept trying to impress on us (we are not spa people). The room was clean and comfortable but while complimentary red wine (which we don't drink), water and biscuits were provided, no kettle or tea and coffee facilities. Contrasting staff, one very friendly and helpful middle aged and a younger English speaker who was very curt and unhelpful. We found out for ourselves a pot of tea (or coffee) could be procured from the bar (and I had to check that the items on the desk were in fact, complimentary). We did not feel like a fancy meal so dined more casually in the interesting small town but the restaurant looked nice though empty this early in the season (mid March). Our room rate included breakfast which was satisfactory with the usual choices though the quality was not quite as good as some we have had while in Portugal. The coffee was poor. The pool appeared to not yet be open as it was green and uninviting. Parking is on the grounds inside though we suspect it may be harder to obtain a park if they are very busy.

We stayed here for 1 night whilst walking the Camino.
The room was a little dated but was clean and comfortable.
The woman on reception when we checked in was a little frosty but the woman on reception when we checked out was absolutely lovely and cheerful!
The food in the rest was excellent and very good value, and breakfast was also very good!
There were quite a lot of children around the hotel but it was the school holidays, however lots of children in the restaurant didn’t help with a nice atmosphere in there!
