Brutal view (best view I've ever had in a hotel), spectacular location, pretty nice Service. We were always welcomed with a smile.

The only positive aspect was the sympathy of the employees. Besides, it's a decrepit hotel. I don't advise anyone. I look abandoned and haunted. You hardly see anyone from the hotel.

The experience of each Cover will depend on what moved her to book in this hotel. If you want a place to rest for a night (although the value is not cheap) is perfect. Ample room, mattress and comfortable pillows and outside the situation with which we attached in particular in our hallway (group of erasmus to arrive at 1:00 in the morning, with doors open between rooms and without respecting the request that we made of silence), we rested very well. OUR EXPERIENCES We made this reservation through ODISSEIAS, in which we had to pay an extra of 13€ for being this hotel specifically. Not worth that upgrade. The ODISSEIAS website says that the rooms are facing the mountain and upon arrival to the hotel they say that the reservations from this portal are from rooms facing the parking lot, but once they had availability, they would offer an upgrade to a room facing the mountain. From this moment until our check out, it became clear that these employees have an extraordinary training and are beyond friendly, extremely loyal to the entity they represent, even when we describe glasses, beatas and rat cocos in public areas of the hotel (but there we go) JANTAR We chose to book the Service of Buffet for two people, in which we paid 54€ for dinner, a filtered water of 700ml and a can of soda. Inputs: a cup with algae, chourish and morce of blood; pulp salad, cabbage salad with garlic and mayonnaise (very strong, gave the feeling that they hadn’t tried it), fresh cheese (pudding style) with tomatoes, salted can mushrooms, tuna salad and mail something I’ll be forgetting. There was plenty in the entrances. Soup: vegetables (very good) Main dishes: fashionable veal from the region with roasted potatoes (very good) and spiritual cod (not appreciated); there was no cooked vegetables or green salad available to accompany Desserts: orange pie (with a very intense taste of orange peel), cream pie, lemon pie (the merengue was still raw and even the sugar grains were felt), flan pudding (was broken but very good), biscuit cake and raspberry. We felt a lack of diversity of fruit, even if it was whole pieces that did not cause waste, such as apples or oranges/tangerines LUNCH: abundant, varied and constantly to be reposted (flocks, muesli, cheeses, pork and turkey flakes, bacon, mixed eggs butter, sweets, donuts, pancakes, leafy croissants, chocolate and orange dancake cakes, natinhas, natural yogurt and much more). It had the minimal variety of fruit that we hoped to have found in the dinner buffet (melanoma, melon, oranges and apples), however all the food looked ultra-processed and out of a Lidl package or something similar. The only more homemade item he had was a sliced rustic cloth, alongside the other little airplane-style villages NEGATIVE REVIEWS For the first time we made a reservation without reading the reviews and we got a little scared with what we were going to find. ROOM: as we said earlier, spacious, comfortable and with basic cleaning CORRIDORS AND PUBLIC SPACES: worn/stained carpets, cracked walls, wood to be peeled, ceilings with faults, cast lights, at least one safe fire door with clotted toilet paper, a lot of dust, spider networks and dead insects in windows We read some feedbacks of the mould smell, which was soaked by electrical devices in the outlets of the hallways, with artificial scents. The first thing we did when we got to the room was shake the windows and assumedly notice that the hotel needs to be aired more often (the air of the Caramulo has the fame of being the purest in Portugal, but not inside this building) Abandoned Areas: In the morning we decided to explore the most recent part of the hotel where the spa / indoor pool is inserted and we went walking through the various lower floors (discoteca), to the upper (conference / training rooms) and agreed that it looks like we were visiting an abandoned building. Open doors, glasses, candle wax, beatas, sugar and ants on the counters, glasses, a bottle of whisky-like drink open and with liquid, bathrooms with disassembled sewer and guesthouse on top of the bathroom, mouse cocos, many spider networks, patinated ceramic floor and our face fe shock for these areas to be marked and available to the public without supervision POOLS: the weather did not allow us to enjoy the outdoor pool and for the interior we would need a touch (which we did not have), both spaces seemed minimally organized DANGER?! When we encountered the surprises of the morning visit, we headed to the reception where we presented some of our doubts and again, an extremely structured and professional speech from the person who attended us. He justified that they had reserved the entire disco area and rooms for a university party two weeks ago and that the housekeeping management had not yet had the opportunity to check the venue. When I referred to the glasses, the rat coco, the walls falling apart, the disassembled pipes and said that we were clearly not talking about damage caused by a partyz but months of abandonment, the answer was that I knew exactly the reality of the hotel and it was incredible the damage a university party could cause. We were asked if we had to open the doors to access these spaces and not, any child would walk freely through these floors, and the only employees who are visible in the hotel are those of the reception and the dining area. CONTEXTUALIZATION This hotel was a former sanatorium for respiratory diseases and was bought in a state of almost ruin and turned into one of the most iconic spas of the late 1990s. From what we realize, it is currently part of a group of hotels EXPERIENCE NOT TO REPEAT?! No doubt. It is not a 4-star hotel and we disagree when we read that it needs renovation works, urgently needs a large and trained cleaning team (we did not see/heard a single cleaning staff from 20:00 to 12:00) and a maintenance team to at least go facing the immediate issues.
