Coroana

The hotel is in a good location, only a short walk from the town centre. My room was small, but perfectly adequate for a short stay. I had a peaceful night’s stay. Breakfast is ok, although not a massive choice. They don’t do evening meals, but there’s a nice restaurant opposite, or you can walk into the town centre and use one of the restaurants there (I HIGHLY recommend Prato restaurant). Staff are friendly and helpful. Free wifi is available, although it doesn’t work well at all.

The Coroana is probably the best value for money in town. I specifically booked this hotel for the old world charm of the building. Just remember this is a 2 star hotel and not the Hilton. The building was indeed the finest hotel for miles in its hay day. The interior is charming and although it could now do with a bit of TLC the experience is overall good. The room I stayed in was one of the biggest hotel rooms I have ever booked! The interior is retro, if not old fashioned, but also very clean. The towels, pillows and bedding were brand new and of excellent quality. The staff were helpful and spoke good English. I was allowed to park my car in their yard which saved a lot of hassle as this hotel is in the pedestrian zone. If you are a party goer then the hotel location is perfect. If you need some quiet time, then ask for a room at the back of the hotel as the location can be loud due to the proximity to all the bars and a 24h McDonalds. This is an old hotel. It has high ceilings and super big rooms with super big windows but the charm stops there. Nothing closed all the way (a gap at the front door let sound and light from the hallway come in) and the windows let sound from outside into the room. I could also hear my neighbor in the bathroom from what I surmised was a piece of covered glass that separated our rooms as I could tell when they turned on the light. The furniture and finishes were old. Wifi didn’t really work. Only one outlet in the room was available. The carpet was worn and the floor creaked. Breakfast was included and some things were really bad but overall I was satisfied with the cold cuts, beverages, and fried egg. For the price, you get what you pay and it was a good value.
