To continue our Baltic holiday mood, we chose after Zelenogradsk for a three-day stay in Kaliningrad this rather famous and popular hotel complex with its spa. Room we had a double standard - Standard DBL.
We were pretty much comfortable with it, and it was the level of a four-star hotel that claimed international standards, not the local attribution of a certain star status. A large, comfortable mattress bed, a table with two chairs, a tea station, bedside tables, lamps and sockets in one “bottle”; good make-up in the bathroom, bathrobes and slippers. In similar conditions, I lived many times not only in Russian hotels. Therefore, some predictability of the service in the room and lack of originality with the inclusion of some extraordinary design "chips" were positives. I quickly became accustomed to the situation and stopped noticing it, feeling comfortable in such a temporary but pleasant environment for all three days.
The main "thing" about living in Kaiserhof that we were originally willing to pay for was its spa.
Here you can take a massage course or order various beauty treatments, consult a specialist. We have limited ourselves to visiting the swimming pool with its surrounding complex of thermals, saunas and hamams. The price included morning meals.
The choice is diverse and traditional for a four-star hotel almost all over the world; with a similar range: bacon, eggs, croissants, sausage and cheese slices, pancakes, fruit. The pastry is of my own making, especially I enjoyed the freshest croissants. There are hot meat dishes, milk porridge, vegetables, salt fish. But I don't use breakfast dishes like that.
There's unobtrusive, muted music in the restaurant hall, a Christmas tree standing. Wonderful start to a new day! The relaxing action of the pool immediately upon waking up, and then - a leisurely "food sequel" with a cup of decent coffee and croissants.
As can be easily guessed, we weren't in too much of a hurry to get out to meet the Kaliningrad attractions. But they were an important part of our stay in this city. It is therefore time to move on to the narrative of them.
However, let me grumble a little... With all the general positive perception of living in Kaiserhof, a couple of joints were not without, which introduced some negative "notes" into the overall good picture.
The first happened at the booking stage. I will note that this procedure on the site I did back in early September, paying the cost of one night. But ... the next day, I got a call from the hotel informing me that there had been a glitch on their website yesterday, and for New Year's Eve, the price was different from what was presented yesterday. As a consequence, I have to pay a certain amount. Otherwise, I'll have my reservation withdrawn and my money refunded. We've already set our minds on living in this place. So, without any argument, I silently deposited the required funds. But the sludge is still...
The second joint was about cleaning the room. The first day of our stay in Kaiserhof was on Christmas Day, i.e. the first day of our stay. January 7. Arriving in the evening from Zelenogradsk, we decided not to go anywhere on this day for dinner, but to celebrate in the room in a quiet cell environment. So we went to the Victoria hypermarket, located nearby, and bought food there. Who is familiar with this chain of shops (previously it was quite widely represented in Moscow), is aware of the very good choice of fish tasties there. We knew about this, too))) The next day we only came “home” at 8 pm. The room wasn't cleaned at all, with all the problems it entailed. Including the smell. I get it, but at least we could take out the trash. But credit must be given to the quick response of the staff.

Terrible impression of the hotel. A 2 bed single room was booked. And it's paid like a 2-bed room. My friend got a regular number. Comfortable size. My number was less than 30 percent. The funny thing is, the staff who, in my indignation at the room, would come in and compare were very surprised that this was possible for one price. The room is not like a 2 local, one person cannot use a chair, bed, table, the chair near the table cannot be put no room, it only stands cocked under the table. And to open a window, you have to take a chair out, or stand on it. There's no room to put the suitcase down, just standing up. An extremely unkind hotel manager who refused to compensate for the obvious difference in room categories. I do, Xe FRAUD. NEXT, there's chaos at breakfast. The table cannot be found cleaned. The Marmites were positioned so that at my height of 160, there was not enough arm open to keep the lid from falling and to get to the food. They finally put the Marmite back in the right position. Comedy. Next, if you ordered room service and put the dishes in the hallway, they'll stay up all night, and they'll be removed after 10 a.m. and only if any guests get upset. Dirt in the hallway. The hotel is tired, as are tired, dissatisfied with its work and life staff. You can see the staff is constantly changing, unprofessional. Everyone's trying to explain that it's not part of their job. Spa: what they call a swimming pool, a tiny puddle with a pointed current around the bedside table in the middle. Location center, by the river. There are 2-3 decent restaurants nearby. Thought it was a good location. But!!!! Constantly singing under the windows With a microphone, very loud, and often without hearing musicians and singers. They change. And some are very difficult to endure. Closed windows don't help. The hotel is the worst impression, so, a forgivable accumulated mistake. What is the policy of the hotel in relations with the client: the main thing to please the hotel management and owner, the guest, his mood and comfort, is not important at all. The staff is driven to believe that the guest will not return, and that's fine. I strongly advise against it!!!!! Never written a negative review of her place of arrival. This is a first. I really want to warn against the mistake of choosing others. Totally not matching price and quality of service!!!

The hotel's only upside is its great location.
From the downside:
Big hotel with lots of people and thin walls, neighbours can hear, hard to sleep.
Grey endless corridors look like a prison.
The repairs are a little worn out.
Instead of a prepaid room with a view of the cathedral and an area of 45m we were given a small room with a view of the square column and a bedroom-penalty.
The spa area with the pool is full. The saunas are nice, but I didn't venture into a pool teeming with people.
Breakfast is normal, at 4z, but here too know-how - to save money only dessert plates
