Park Inn Veliky Novgorod

The hotel was until recently named Park Inn in 2010. However, the Residor group, which had the rights to this brand, did not build this hotel, but bought a hotel built in the sunset of the USSR in 1991. Although certainly in the hospitality industry, it's not so much the walls that matter, it's the people. At the time of construction, the hotel was called the Beresta Palace Hotel, so the current name is a symbiosis. The hotel is big, it was built with 225 rooms, as many as I don't know now. The room is fine. And in the sense of convenience and condition. There's even a bathroom! This is probably a Soviet inheritance. Modern hotels save space and put showers. The view was of the car park, but here, lucky... Breakfast is good, though it's not a 4-star hotel. But I only lived in four stars in the Scandinavian countries, Egypt and Turkey, so we'll discount the region's specifics...

I take it four stars is just for having a Spa complex. The hotel looks much better from the outside than the inside. On the third floor, in the hallway on the carpet a bunch of dirty stains from spilled water, maybe other drinks of some kind, but all this does not give the best first impression.. a ripped-out socket on the wall is also a decoration and an indicator of the hotel's status. The situation in the room is a little better. the beds are normal but the decor on the walls is already torn off in places, there are practically no outlets. had to unplug the torch to turn on the charging gadget , but as it turned out, when the lights in the room are turned off the outlets also !!! cool !! engineering genius.. why genius ? And because there is NO outlet for the hairdryer in the bathroom, but there is a specialized outlet for electric shavers!!! When was the last time you saw wired electric shavers ?? and there are a bunch of little things like this.. sleeping with the window open is not realistic because of the noise from the street. with the room closed - because of the heat. there is no air conditioning, there is a fan.. great, but the outlet (which remains working when the lights are off) is detected only one!! that is either you charge the gadget or sleep in silence, notionally, the fan then hums in the light!! there is no kettle in the room either, there are coolers in the hallways, but wearing boiling water in plastic cups all over the floor is a great idea. Breakfast is all I need, no frills, but there was (for my taste) no complaints

My brief stay at the hotel from 31 July to 2 August 2025 left a twofold impression. With the exception of the pompous lobby, the hotel greeted me with a time stamp, deeply eaten into its appearance. The "business" room of the class turned out to be air-conditioned duo, furnished with furniture with old life marks, chipping and rubbing. The carpet kept the dust and traces of recent residents on it, and the wallpaper seemed to sigh as it peeled off the walls. In the bathroom, I was greeted by a stubborn faucet dripping its endless tune and a toilet whose purity had probably fallen victim to an inexorable age. Sockets are a scarce resource: the only available one huddled at the entrance to the bathroom, leaving night gadgets without power. The night became a test of strength: the deafening music from the restaurant, which rattled until midnight, shattered hopes for a quiet rest. Among the few rays of light are a decent breakfast, a magnificent lobby and the courtesy of the reception staff, who tried to smooth over the overall depressing impression.
