We were disappointed with the Grand Mark after reading such positive reviews prior to booking.
We had the "junior suite" which was quite large and well lit, though quite tired looking, compared to the glossy reception area and main corridor which are much more stylish and better decorated. It almost seems like you are staying in a different hotel when you enter the room.
The big issue for us are the paper thin walls and ceilings. Most mornings it sounded like a herd of elephants were walking around upstairs. Our last day we had a group of teenage girls staying next door that shrieked and giggled all evening and had their TV on maximum volume all night, right behind our bed. Thumping on the wall just resulted in jeers.
As others have said, if you are in a street side room it is recommended to bring a sleep mask as the curtains are thin and street lights are outside.
The breakfast was small and basic but enough to get us going in the morning.
The staff seemed reluctant to register our visas and it took a little cajoling to get this done,but otherwise the staff were very helpful and friendly, although their english was not great.
I would say this hotel is 2 or 2.5 star, certainly not 3.5 star.
