Protea Hotel Willow Lake

Stopped for one night on a long road trip and chose this hotel for its location and comfort, but value for money fell short. Staff were pleasant and moved us to a second room after we reported the weak aircon, however the aircon was inadequate in both rooms and we ended up with a poor night’s sleep. The hotel itself feels dated and lacking upkeep, common areas aren't inviting and it seems overdue for a refresh. For a 4-star property at these rates, the overall quality didn’t match expectations. Renovations seem to be underway, so hopefully this improves for future guests.

Sleep was comfortable and really good (except for the calling peacock at 3:00 😂). Shower was perfect. Note the bathroom is open plan except for the toilet, which has a door. Free and safe parking as well as a little swimming pool. Staff are friendly and helpful.

We stopped for the night at this hotel, the online booking process was very easy. We arrived and went straight to the restaurant, that was open to 10pm. The menu had a good selection to choose from, which was taste and well presented. The ground floor room was air conditioned and pleasantly furnished, with a king sized bed that was very comfortable for the night.
