Protea Hotel Clarens

Protea Hotel Clarens was built in 2008 and is located in the centre of the popular mountain village Clarens (elevation 1,820m). The hotel offers 70 rooms over 3 floors, restaurant & bar, and conference room. Furnishings and decoration provide a modern atmosphere. Service is friendly and efficient. Guarded parking and stable WiFi. Our room had desk & chair, tea facility & fridge, wardrobe & safe, airco & TV, good kingsize bed with excellent bedlinen, and terrace with table & 2 chairs. We had a separate bathroom with washbasin, toilet, shower and bath. All was very clean. A very good hot & cold buffet breakfast is served: eggs made to order, cold cuts & cheeses, sausages & bacon, bread & toast, cereals & fruits, milk & yoghurts, juices & preserves, muffins & croissants, tea & coffee. Protea Hotel Clarens is a most comfortable hotel and we had a good stay. Highly recommended.

Only stayed one night following a day in the town and exploring the Golden Gate and was very happy with the hotel and our room. Clean, friendly staff, great breakfast, safe car park … thoroughly recommend. Only downer - the pool was freezing! Didn’t even try to get in!!!

"Semi"self catering Bring everything with you unless you are a solo traveler Needed to pay for everything, including toothbrushes and, upon arrival, needed to request housekeeping to refill the toilet paper as the one was a 1/4 roll. You get what you pay for. Not the global standard for this hotel group.
