Premier Hotel Pretoria

I spent a week at Premier Hotel Arcadia and was thoroughly impressed. The staff — from receptionists and duty managers to restaurant and housekeeping teams — were consistently polite, professional, and accommodating, making me feel welcome throughout my stay. The rooms were spotless, with fresh linen changed daily and housekeeping ensured everything was kept immaculate. Breakfast was superb, offering a wide variety of choices to suit different tastes. The lounging facilities were neat and comfortable, and even the communal toilets were maintained to a very high standard of cleanliness. Overall, the hotel delivered excellent service, comfort and attention to detail. I would gladly recommend Premier Hotel Arcadia to anyone visiting Pretoria.

From the arrival I had an amazing experience from welcoming to being pleasantly surprised and mesmerised by the beauty of the old vintage building. The room small but cozy. It has everything I needed for an overnight stay. What would have been ideal would to have the WiFi details as part of the welcome back but instead I had to request it. All that said, each time I stepped foot in the dining hall for supper or breakfast the experience changed for the worse. Although greeted with an amazing chandelier and a very beautiful garden, the hosting staff are clearly inexperienced. I had a pretty much a half a plate of food for R300 as the person did not offer a A La Carte menu even when asked so I had to join the buffet line which in itself was lacking. As I was not booked for supper included in my stay I had to pay the exorbitant amount for barely a plate. When I confronted they said I could have used the A La Carte menu. For breakfast I was first in line and had to wait over 5 min for the hot station staff member to arrive. When I placed my order of 2 over easy eggs, I was told to have a seat they’ll bring it. Over 20min later where several others have received their complex omelettes, I was yet to receive my 2 simple eggs. In the meantime my prepped toast has gone cold and tough. As the title says, all is good but the dining area.

The hotel is a bit old and offers spacious rooms with good bathrooms. The proximity to the neighboring building can be a bit noisy - better to take a room on the upper floors ;-). Very nice staff, very clean, the evening meal buffet wasn't really our thing in terms of taste. There's nothing you can do about that. The canned fruit we found at breakfast was sobering - which in our opinion is completely unacceptable in such a fruit-rich country! It's OK for one night and the government seat is a stone's throw away.
