African Pride Irene Country Lodge

We stayed only one night before moving towards Kruger. The hotel has rooms in small buildings located in a magnificent garden. For dinner and breakfast, since the internal restaurant was under renovation, they took us to the restaurant of the actual farm, accompanying us with a golf cart, both for dinner and for breakfast. A la carte dinner and buffet breakfast. Large rooms with a terrace.

Beautiful grounds, and the bedrooms are large and very well decorated with a huge, comfortable bed. An iron and ironing board in our room was helpful. We dined in both evenings and the filet steak on the bone was exceptional. The pool was quiet - we were the only ones to enjoy the sun beds and hotel provided towels. Staff were all very welcoming. A couple or so whinges from me which if sorted would lead me to give a 5 star rating. The lighting in the dining room could do with being dimmed a little as it was very bright, with LED ceiling lights. Not a great ambience as a result. The service at the bar was very slow if there were more than a couple of people to be served.

What terrible service at the hotel. I have been there previously and the service has deteriorated significantly. My experience has been appalling.
