Southern Sun Hyde Park

A good 4-star hotel, located in a fairly quiet area, with an excellent quality-price ratio. Rooms and bathrooms are large, obviously without bidets (and without toilet brushes, go figure...). Good breakfast, tiny pool. Very good bar and restaurant.

I stayed at the Hyde Park Southern Sun for one night during a business trip. It was easy to find the access to the undercover parking. Upon my arrival a member of the staff was immediately available and placed my luggage on a trolley. Check in went smoothly. I enjoyed the views over JHB in the glass lift. I stayed on the third floor in room 341. The rooms are spacious with perfect lighting. The room was clean and included a coffee station, many two and three point plug points and a nice large hairdryer. I noticed when I was looking for a news channel that the hotel provides a large number of channels on the television network. The bathrooms are excellent. A large shower and bath are included and the shower have a rain shower head and a normal shower head. The toilet is in the bathroom. I was able to visit Hyde Park shopping centre by following a short passage running between the hotel and the shopping mall. It was super safe and convenient. Most of the shops were closed after 6pm but I was able to buy a cooldrink for the next day since both supermarkets were still open. There are lovely restaurants in the centre and high-end shops. I decided to order room service. It was easy to place an order and it arrived in good time. The salad was fresh and I enjoyed my meal. The bed was comfortable. Good quality bedding. I had breakfast at the hotel and in my opinion the cappuccino was excellent. Eggs are made to order. The breakfast included some nice touches. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and quiet at 6:40am. Prissi Naidoo, the Rooms Division Manager, assisted me during my check-out. She was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel clearly wants to ensure guests return again and again since she asked me for feedback following my stay. I appreciate this and was impressed with her approach and professionalism.

Lovely hotel with comfy rooms, full bathrooms. Rooms have a bar fridge, tea, coffee, basic toiletries, water. Secure undercover parking, charged per day. Coffee machine available at reception, free coffee 🤩. Easy access to the mall from parking. Cons: No luggage racks to place suitcase on, no robes. On my last night they were out of fresh cream 😩
