No hot water. Maintenance will only come after our stay. Zero plan for hot water. Apart from the lifts that sound like it may collapse, there is a concrete wall that is held up by steel slats. Just wish we’d looked at the reviews before booking. But at least the bed is comfortable. Also, friends checked in earlier and had to pay on an extra R350. But the lack of hot water and the inefficiency has to be the worst! Let’s not say that the toilet could have had less spots when we arrived.

I stayed at the Waterfront Hotel and Spa 2 years ago and what a pleasant experience, and beautiful view of the harbor. I was so excited to go back to the hotel in Oct 2020, what a disappointment. I could not believe my eyes when I walked into the hotel and saw how the hotel has gone downhill and no view of the harbor any more due to a big warehouse being build in front of the hotel blocking the beautiful view. On our arrival the reception was not friendly at all and we could not go to the room as they were still busy, we ask to order 2 coffees and the reception advised us there is no coffee and there were no staff to assist us. The reception advice us to walk to the next block and have some coffee at that "restaurant" being 2 ladies we took the walk and once we arrived at the "restaurant" it was a proper bar that is not appropriate for any lady and they do not even serve coffee. Once back we said to the reception we could not believe that she even send us to the bar for coffee. The room aircon was so noisy and not working we asked to be moved to a different room, and the second room was just as bad not clean and smelly. The next morning the breakfast was disgusting and I could not stand to see my clients at the hotel and spend another day at the hotel. I went to the reception and said I am not happy at all there were no manager to lodge my complaint and the reception said we can leave if we are not happy that I did. I will not recommend anyone to waste their time and money visiting the hotel.

Let me start of by saying: Waterfront Hotel and Spa, Durban offered us a slice of heaven through pictures and in reality it was an awful experience.
Upon arrival: unpleasant reception area, dirty floor and a group of people socializing extremely loud on the side.
During our stay: door, windows, walls, carpets and bathroom floor extremely dirty. Bird poop in the window sill, toilet leaking onto the floor and the shower light was not working. Between 1-2am there was a serious rage outside (music and people checking in) - sleeping was not peaceful.
At breakfast: no variety of food, recycled sausages, oily scrambled eggs, lady to make sunnyside ups was very rude, dirty cutlery, no water, tables and place mats were dirty, no butter/margarine for the bread and there was no fresh air/ventilation in the room.
We also called reception for bottled water and it was brought to our room, however, at breakfast we were hammered to immediately pay for the bottled water.
Car parking: chicken bones everywhere and cars were partially not safe.
Sorry Waterfront Hotel and Spa, Durban, you are not a match for a 3-star hotel and you have a lot of fixing and cleaning to do.
