Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge

We had an incredible 4-night stay at Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge. The hospitality was warm, the food was delicious at every meal, and the game drives were absolutely world-class. ​A huge shout-out to Suitboy, our guide, whose deep knowledge and tracking skills made every safari unforgettable, and to Given, who went above and beyond to make our stay feel so personal and special. ​If you want an authentic, intimate, and magical Kruger safari, Hoyo Hoyo is the place to go. We can’t wait to come back!

The welcome on arrival was just the start of a safari experience that will never leave us From the wonderful and plentiful food, to the knowledge and experience of the guides, everything is of the highest order The lodge itself is not brand new and there are a few signs of wear and tear, but everything works as it should and is kept immaculately clean If you want to get close to nature, this is the place as there are no fences between you and the animals even when you’re in your room In the week we spent there we were visited by elephants, hyenas, buffalo and lions with only your rooms front door between you and them, but there’s no need to worry, as the staff are so knowledgeable that your safety is assured at all times

Drove eight hours from Joburg. Once you get to Orpen Gate not much of an issue. Network can be patchy, so make sure you get your directions right. Well, it’s all part of the experience 😊. Lodge was beautiful and intimate. Staff were friendly and kind. What made the experience unforgettable was our safari guide Jenny. She was so sincere and warm (shout out to Jenny). It’s not about what we saw or didn’t, but the effort and genuine hope that we do can be felt. Pros - Beautiful lodge, awesome authentic food, one of a kind guide Jenny Cons - Outdoor shower can be an issue for winter Jenny if u are reading this, we did manage to see the lions on the way out 🙏.
