PROTEA KING GEORGE

King George is a very safe bet when it comes to hotel options in George. The staff are friendly and always willing to assist wherever they can, especially the front desk team. The facility is clean and well-maintained, creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. However, during my stay, the hotel was quite busy with many tourists. As a result, sleep quality wasn’t ideal, mainly due to tour buses starting up early in the morning and guests gathering and chatting outside. I would recommend requesting a room further away from the front of the hotel to avoid this. The buffet dinner was fantastic, offering a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The same goes for breakfast—everything you would expect was available. That said, a bit more attention to cleanliness in the breakfast area would make the experience even better. Aside from these minor issues, this is a solid and reliable place to stay.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. My wife me and brother and sister in law We turned up and was met at reception by fantastic staff. We were shown to our rooms and was told to come back to reception for a welcome drink. The staff knew it was our wedding anniversary and we were sat down with a bottle of wine on the house to celebrate our anniversary. What a lovely touch. We went back to our rooms and the room itself was nice and roomy and very clean only to find a bowl of fruit and chocolate, how lovely is this hotel. We arranged to eat at the restaurant and were met by Anwin,what a lovely man and a great asset to the hotel. He explained the menu and gave us a little bit of history of South Africa and the local area, great man and very good at his job. There are four pools at the hotel but only two were available to use. We chose to use the one at the reception which was lovely and refreshing in the heat wave. We visited the local area and shops and there was plenty around but decided to use the hotel restaurant on the second and final night of our stay, the food is very good with a nice selection on the menu The golf course runs right outside the hotel and there are lots of wild life on the fairways to keep you occupied if you do you don’t want to watch the golf. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend it. If you can try and get the rooms with the view of the golf course this is the only reason I haven’t given it a five star review.

Some rooms have been upgraded but the hotel retains its marvellous character. So many small touches in the rooms which contribute to a wonderful stay. The rooms a very comfortable with large balconies with in many cases, golf course views. Breakfasts are inviting with a wide range available. Staff could be a model for how all similar hotel should treat guests. The public rooms have style, aided by historic photos of the area. So without doublt. the 'only' hotel to stay at when in George.
