Protea Knysna Quays

We booked 2 x rooms for 3 nights. The hotel is right next to the waterfront so in a great location. Our rooms were next to each other as requested. The rooms with even numbers have a pool/marina view and odds offer a city view. The rooms were spacious. Clean and modern and have a fridge. The beds were comfortable. We had bed and breakfast booked. The breakfast was buffet and had plenty of choice including cold meats. Cereal, cooked breakfasts and pastries. My tip is if you want eggs with your cooked breakfast, ask for them 1st as they make them fresh. Otherwise by the time they are ready, your breakfast will not be warm. The hotel workers were all lovely and cannot do enough for you. There is secure parking at a fee of 30 Rand per day. There is some refurbishment work going on, so there are no lifts at the moment. The porters did take our luggage for us as we were on the 3rd floor. The pool looks lovely, but it just wasn't warm enough for us to use. This is a lovely hotel and if the lifts had been working, I would have given 5. But hopefully this will only be temporary. Knysna is a beautiful location with so much to see and do.

Location was excellent. Rooms were a good size as was the bathroom. Unfortunately the lifts were not working at the time. Buffet breakfast was good with decent selection. Staff were good.

Our stay at Protea Hotel by Marriott Knysna Quays it is unfortunately not the best experience. The room was fairly spacious and clean, which we appreciated. However, it definitely needs some refreshing and updating, as parts of it feel worn and outdated. For example, when I pulled the curtain aside, I realized it could not be properly closed again, which was quite inconvenient. My friend specifically requested a room with a sea view, but we were told the hotel was fully booked. As a result, we were given a room overlooking the parking area and part of the hotel lobby, which was disappointing. Overall, the experience was not very satisfying. While the location may have its advantages and the property might have potential, unfortunately we did not really get the chance to experience those positive aspects during our stay. ⸻
