POINT HOTEL

We have checked out of The Point Hotel & Spa in Mossel Bay ( Aug 21 / 2026)today… What a beautiful location & what a dismal experience as we booked a “Honeymoon Suite” where the room had the bare minimum only a queen sized bed & 2 arm chairs and old mismatched coffee table, no accent foot carpet / No luggage Stand! / no hand towel / no vanity ear buds or shower cap / there was no Couch or even a table to sit at for room service, we ordered the room service & most of the items we asked for were out of stock/ They have advertised False Information with regards to their “Michelin Star Chef” FALSE ADVERTISING they don’t have one! it was the worst meal we have had and we only ordered a soup & a smash burger & received the wrong order…we had to ask the room service staff to get us a table on which to eat the meal & they lugged in a wet Plastic table that we used one of the ONLY two towels as a table cloth… When we spoke to the manager Andre at breakfast this morning calling attention to the situation he looked very confused and sheepish & had no answer…The breakfast buffet was simple fare with burnt offerings for croissant and not appetising at all, the worst part of breakfast was the dirty and unhygienic state of the hot chaffing dishes, I have attached photos! The staff were the best part of the stay they were kind and apologetic and also informed us of the false advertising that they know of! The state of the hotel is shabby and looks like it’s not been refurbished since early 1990s! The Manager was as shabbily presented and looked unkempt… In addition to this horrible situation I left with bed bug bites too..there was a baby cockroach in the bathtub but we used the shower…which was the only nice part of the room. And aside : The staff let us know that they have to pay out their own pockets for the uniforms and that the hotel does not reimburse them for that…they don’t mind paying for them just to take off a bit every month…the wait staff & view were the nicest part of this drama! Don’t waste your money here ! This Hotel that advertises its status as a 4 Star establishment this is just a joke! Do better & be honest! No won’t ever book here again!

Just do more in the shower...mould in the shower....they must use jik or something else to clean the grout

The view from our room was absolutely breathtaking, stunning! This view must be one of the best views ever for a hotel room. We saw two whales at about 8.00 in the morning. The fact that large parts of the sea, rocks, and the large cave was lit at night made it difficult to go to sleep! This hotel should be a must-visit for locals and foreigners.
