Far Hills Country Hotel

We stayed at Far Hills country Hotel in February 2026. It was very bad experience. What you see on the website and how the place looks in reality is a vast comparison. The hotel is old and maintenance needs to be done. They do seem to be going for an old rustic charm look, but there is alot lacking. We booked a standard room: it was clean, but had a damp smell. It was the middle of summer and the room had no fan or bar fridge. The staff were lovely and tried to attend to all our needs, but there is only so much they can do. The place needs a complete revamp. The standard room price should be dropped. There also needs to be more security and staff available at night. Reception is deserted after 5pm and you need to call a staff member to come out if you need assistance. Really disappointing stay.

The photos sell a dream that does not exist. The hotel has aged badly, the room we had smelled of closed and cleanliness clearly leaves something to be desired. This place was supposed to be great 30 40 years ago, but it hasn't renewed itself. Don't go, go your way

We had a really wonderful stay at Far Hills in January 2025, we booked 4 deluxe rooms in the beautiful forest surroundings and all the staff were incredible! The food was absolutely top class and dealing with Jen (head chef) was such a pleasure. She arranged a Braai for us and our extended family on their viewpoint area, which was a magical setting. She has a heart of gold and nothing was too much trouble for her. We also had an incredible breakfast, the flapjacks and smoothie were an absolute hit! We loved the pool, had many swims and lots of fun in it. The kiddos loved the double bunk in the family room and everyone said they slept well. Jen promised me before we came that she wouldn’t disappoint us and she absolutely lived up to her word. Everyone left with a fuller cup than when they arrived. Thank you thank you.
