Protea Riempie Estate

Loved our stay. Such a shame was only for one night. The outdoor sitting area was a pleasure and the large bed with modern tv and bathroom made for a very comfortable stay as part of a tour group. Enjoyed dinner in the restaurant and would love a copy of your Malva pudding recipe. Was the first I had tried and then had it multiple times while travelling, nowhere else came even close to being as good.

THE GOOD- restaurant and cleaning staff were amazing and took great care of us. Bed was comfortable. Room and property very clean and well maintained. Food was excellent at the restaurant. Pool was wonderful , peaceful and staff very attentive. Great Location. THE BAD: Dogs constantly barking from neighbourhood properties. Not Marriott's fault but if we had been upgraded as we should have then Im sure we would not have heard the dogs every night. The front desk lady who was on when we checked in on March 3rd 2026 and was back on when we checked out March 6th. She did not acknowledge our Gold membership. My husband travelled with Marriott for years and was a platinum. Once retired he became a lifetime Gold member. As for Marriott that means nothing. This is the 3rd Marriott we have stayed on this recent trip and have never been acknowledged as a gold member and never given an upgrade. She told us that they were fully booked over the next few days and could not upgrade up. That simply was not true. Not sure why we bother booking with this company. The standards have gone down on recognition of membership, loyalty, room amenities such as toothbrushes when forgotten and more. I would have given this hotel a 4 star if the front desk had treated us differently and we had received a good nights rest. It really ruins your holiday when you cannot sleep past 4 am due to dogs barking and hearing guests next door through the walls.

Stayed one night during our tour of the Garden Route. Amazing hotel. Staff were so friendly and helpful especially Graham in the restaurant / bar and Arena (hope I have spelt that correctly) at reception. Nothing was too much trouble and service impeccable. Rooms very nice, modern and clean. Dinner in the restaurant was good and the pool area clearly recently upgraded and very nice place to sit and have a drink in the evening. Overall very very nice stay.
