Seogwipo KAL Hotel

This hotel was a huge disappointment and, in our opinion, does not come close to what you should expect from a four-star hotel. The price may be four-star level, but unfortunately, that is about it. The hotel is old and outdated, and even the hallways have a musty smell. The Wi-Fi is poor and there are rules for almost everything. You cannot use the swimming pool without a swimming cap, jumping into the pool is not allowed, and even opening a parasol became an issue. On top of that, the swimming pool was far too cold to enjoy. The fitness facilities were another major frustration. When we booked through Agoda, the hotel was advertised as having a gym, swimming pool and sauna, with an additional charge specifically mentioned for the sauna. Once we arrived, however, we were suddenly told that we also had to pay every single time we wanted to use the gym. The gym itself is also very outdated. The reception staff showed very little willingness to understand the problem or find a reasonable solution. Very disappointing service. There is also very little atmosphere in the hotel in the evening. There is hardly anywhere pleasant to sit, relax and have a drink. Despite being a large hotel, it feels dated and rather lifeless. There are two important exceptions that deserve praise. The housekeeping staff were fantastic. They were extremely friendly and did an excellent job throughout our stay. The breakfast was also very good, and the breakfast staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming. They were easily among the best aspects of the hotel. Unfortunately, these positives could not make up for the overall experience. We repeatedly wondered during our stay how this hotel could have a four-star rating. It simply did not deliver the quality, facilities or service we expected for the price. We would definitely not stay here again.

There is no separate air conditioning in the rooms! There is only centralized control. My room got up to 80 degrees and they just told me to open the balcony door. It's also shabby and old and worn down.

I had the pleasure of staying at Seogwipo KAL Hotel for two nights. Widely regarded as one of the best hotels on the island, it lived up to its reputation. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and only wished I could have stayed longer, as I had to leave early and unfortunately missed breakfast. The suite was immaculate and thoughtfully designed. The bedroom featured one king bed and one twin bed, while the separate living room included a desk—suitable even for a small meeting—and a comfortable sofa. The bathroom was also well-appointed and clean. Some amenities, such as toothbrushes, were not provided, likely in accordance with Jeju’s environmental policies. The hotel is also known for its expansive and beautiful garden, which I regret not being able to fully enjoy due to a tight itinerary and rainy weather. My only drawback was the location, which is somewhat removed from the airport and main urban areas. Traveling by bus from the airport can take close to two hours. Aside from that, it is an excellent place to stay—one that many travelers would appreciate and enjoy.
