The Chambord is one of the few hotels available for booking through English speaking internet sites in the city of Yeosu.
Everyone in the city seems to know it. But unfortunately, it isn't very good. The rooms and the hotel as a whole look extremely dated and most customers seem to be sailors waiting for their ship.
Yeosu will be the setting of the 2012 World Maritime Exhibition and, once all the works are completed, it could turn out to look very nice. But for the time being, both the city and the Chambord are slightly disappointing when compared to many other cities in South Korea.
Just off the mainland and connected by a causeway, Odongdo island is a sort of natural reserve and the views from the lighthouse across the bay are very nice, but I'm not sure it's enough to justify a visit to Yeosu, and that despite the amazing kindness of everyone we met.
