24guesthouse Sinchon Style

Received poor service from the start. Lady at front desk saying they only accepted cash yet clearly states they accept VISA / Mastercard on their website. After my gf poke to her in korean she allowed us to pay cash. Arrived at our room only to have the lady from the front desk knocking on the door. She then handed my gf a mobile phone with the owner of the guesthouse on the phone pleading to pay cash. Exceptionally rude. we didnt give in. Room was ok. WIFI didnt work on the last day and Night. Would look elsewhere in sinchon. so many other guesthouses i'd rather stay than here.

Price: Affordable: (PHP 8,856.70 (USD 199.32) for 4 nights on Twin Bed Room - Double Deck) Compared to Myeongdong (Exit 8) guesthouses, this is a bit cheaper. Location: Good. Accessible by airport bus. Lot of restaurants nearby, but there are those that will require you to select meals (15000) each, no sharing. There are a couple of bars and drinking sessions around. It is also close to 2 convenient stores - 7/11 and CU. Across the main road is Hanaro (Hana Mart) where you can buy your returning presents (omiyage/pasalubong). It is also just walking distance (15-20 minutes) to Yonsei and Ehwa universities. Check-in Experience: There is a misunderstanding between me and auntie on mail as she requires me to pay additional fee of 28000 krw (for the taxi fare when she returns home) if we arrive at the hostel beyond 11pm. Good thing, she took it back when we were there 10 minutes before 11pm. So we did not pay any additional fee. I read the same experience from tripadvisor. The guesthouse has no elevator and we were assigned to 3rd floor. Room: I chose the double deck compared to pulled-bed due to space. The room facilities include comforter, small towels, television and water thermos. However, they don't provide glasses. On our first night (beyond 2am), in the kitchen at basement 1, I can't find the lights but got 2 mugs going to our room. The following morning we had a warning note. Going to the basement the following morning, I finally saw the notice saying, "Don't bring mugs to your room". I was wondering how contradicting the service they have, what's the use of the thermos in the room, when glasses are not allowed? The next thing I did is to ask the uncle everytime I get the mugs, then return it the following morning. Culinary Experience: They offer simple breakfast like bread, jam, cofee and tea. It is a self service so you have to wash your dishes. There is also a schedule on when can you wash them, since there are also private rooms in the basement. Rules: No washing of socks or clothes in the room. No foundation or make-up in bed. Turn-off lights, fan, aircon as you go out of the room. Comments & Tips: No digital lock in the room. It is using traditional keys. There is drinking water thermos, but cups and spoons are available from B1. There are more than 4 power sockets, make sure to prepare your adaptors. LCD TV is also provided with selected HD cable and English channels (e.g. CNN, History, Discovery, National Geographic, Arirang) with of course unlimited non-sub local channels. Water heater is very much working. They provide toiletries at basic shampoo, rinse and bath. They have toilet slippers and room slippers - bring your own to be hygenic.

Dont stay here if you dont mind filthy room, dirty floor or unbelievable thin quilt. Seriously, we went there during the end of September, the weather is not very hot but not cold either, but the quilt, basically, I can just call it a "sheet", really really thin, and even there is air conditioning in the room, we didnt turn it on,we are afraid to get sick, because the AC is just above our head, it is such a small room. At night time the room gets really cold, and there is a huge pipe under our window outside, and makes the really loud noise all night, we are unable to sleep all night. The room has one window, but there is a building blocking the window so there is literally NO air, every time we got back to the room , the smell is so so so so BAD, and that's why the receptionist asked us to keep the window open all the time. It is such a cheap guesthouse, but you always have to follow a bunch of rules, otherwise they will post a note on the door, I dont get it why all other reviewer think this place is "awesome", I am so regretted to stay at this place, and we have heavy luggages so it's so hard to drag it up and down without elevator, we stayed 2 nights and unable to bare it another day, basically we were like running away from this place. But on the day we leave, there is another young girl working over there, her name is Yuri or Yumi I forgot, she is nice enough to help us get a taxi and talk to the taxi driver to send us to our new guesthouse in Hongdae. ( our guesthouse in Hongdae is Real awesome!!) Location: besides all the bad experience I had with this hostel, the location is pretty good, sinchon has plenty of shopping and eating area, nice restaurants nearby, and Metro Line 2 is also within 5 min walking. Also, there is a really nice local Sauna(jimjibang) place called " 24 Sinchon Rest", with 5 min walking, if you wanna experience inexpensive korean style sauna , go there!!! p.s. We arrived at the guesthouse on the day check in very late, like 11pm ish, the owner or the receptionist , she is kinda angry because we didnt email her to inform her we are gonna be late, her english is bad, so at the beginning with her attitude I was worried that we wont be able to check in, then after several minitues of her complaining and I finally get it she just wanted us to tell her if we are gonna be late, because she needs to go home.... okway, our fault, but our flight delayed and first time in Korea, it takes time to get used to the transportation system tho...oh well.. The breakfast is included, but we didnt try it. I wont recommend to stay here.
