D.H sinchon guesthouse

Stay was 5 weeks for solo 18 year old female traveller. The use of CCTV in the guest house was very strange and worrying.  There is no lift in the building.  So, you will have to carry up your luggage. The constant emails from the host were annoying and stressful. You have to pay a compulsory fee for weekly bed linen change.  You will be charged a large amount (around £55) to clean sheets for the tiniest of mark/stain. I understand the need for rules re trash/rubbish recycling but he is totally obsessed with that. No guest/friend of the person staying is allowed anywhere in the building.  Even though paying for a double room for 1 person, I was charged extra for 1 night for this.  The day before check out, arrangements had been made to start moving some belongings to a permanent rental. When he saw this, the host demanded the room key as he didn't believe returning later and checking out the day after (which had been paid up to) would happen. Luckily, a friend offered a place to stay that night! I do not recommend this guest house.

The location is super. Our room smelled bad and was full of moisture. The staff was not helping and was quite impolite. They don’t speak English. The breakfast is very basic (toast and cereals). The common area is dirty.

It's clean and quite. Fast and reliable internet WiFi. Close to the subway stations and bus stops. Surrounded by cafes and convenience store. Cheap ramen and gimbap stall is within 5 minutes walk. 24hr coffee shops is near the subway station. Good restaurants and shopping complex are within walking distance towards Yonsei and EWHA uni. Rooms are small, but clean. Equipped with multiple power plugs. Rooms and front door are with digital lock. Each room has a small fridge to store your supply. Bedroom dimension is around 3mx2m, outside the bathroom. Leaving very small space for your luggage. It has Asian type of bed (which is hard), but with a very comfortable blanket. Room cleaning takes additional fee. Laundry service is available with additional fee. It provides decent kitchen appliances at the dining room at the roof top (4th floor). You can stock your supply and heat it for breakfast. Coffee and water is free. Breakfast is very basic, bread and jam. That's why it's better to buy your supply at the nearby convenience stores and heat it for breakfast (or lunch/dinner). Food at Seoul's convenience store are great and affordable. As said by others, although it is a 4-level building, it has no lift, only stairs. You also need to climb small steps on the way to it. It's rather not suitable for seniors or people with mobility issues. Reception staff is friendly and helpful, but speak some English but not fluent.
