STEEP UPHILL - pulling even a carry-on is almost impossible. Taxi drivers may refuse to take you all the way up. Multiple Uber drivers cancelled on us probably because of the hill.
Dogs and cats in the common room were unexpected and triggered my allergies. It’s also noisy and chaotic even when it’s just the staff watching TV and cleaning.
Service was lacking, with weird and unusual rules like the common room not being open until 10:30am, only staff being allowed to use the open kitchen, cleaning costs extra, etc. The office was not visibly open when we arrived in the afternoon, which caused a lot of stress; buried in initial instructions we saw too late it said to connect with them first on WeChat, WhatsApp or Line so they could send the check in instructions. Yet the main door code is right outside so anyone could enter. When we did message on multiple platforms there was no response. When we asked about luggage storage we were told we could leave it just inside the main door next to the common room. When we asked if they had more secure storage they just said it’s not their obligation and we should just take valuables with us. I’ve never had a hotel or Airbnb say this.
The shower is open and not even in the corner so water gets everywhere.
There are many rules posted everywhere, which makes the place feel more like a quirky hostel / extended stay place (lots of additional rules for those staying > 1-2 weeks) though from our booking platform it seemed more like a hotel with private rooms.
The positives:
- cheap
- rooftop had a good amount of enclosed and open air seating, with a nice view including of the Han River
- room was cute in a girly way. Ours had a narrow deck with seating and a partial river view
- you can help yourself to free purified water and toothbrushes, and more towels (medium size only)
