Hotel Gangnam Star

Excellent room for size location and quiet. Beautiful soft pillows and fresh linens every day including dressing gown. I stayed 8 days and all was perfect. You can order food to be delivered easily to the ground floor but very central for eating out. Note there is only a coffee shop off the lobby . The main joy was the room

Good: Perfect location, nice amenities, the heater was on point, the bed ha these system that the bed feel warm all the time perfect for winter season. Bad: Maybe there is a need of more Privacy in the bathroom area since the walls are from glass

This was one of three hotels that I used during my trip to Korea with 2 teenage daughters, and it was by far the worst of the three hotels despite being the most expensive of the three. There were some good things about the hotel. It was located literally 30 seconds walk from Yoksam subway station. Staff were nice for the most part, although my other 2 hotel staff seem more professional. Now the bad. There were mirrors everywhere. You can't change cloth or take shower in the bathroom, as there was mirror all around the bathroom as well as wall facing the bathroom. There was no bathroom door. See the picture included. What this means is that you can see person undressing in any of the three bed. Only remedy is to open the toilet door and block the view and walk halfway into the shower and undress. Suffice to say that this was challenge with 2 teenage daughters. Everytime they took shower or undress, I acutally walked out of the room. Whoever designed this should have their head examined. Second, there is step getting into the room which is unexpected as you expect getting in and out of the room to be flat. Even worse than this, there is abot 1 cm step getting into the bathroom area. This rise is hidden in bathroom floor pattern, and unless you look at it closely or actually feel it with your feet, you won't see that entrance to bathroom area is not flat. This is very disconcerting walking in and out of bathroom area. See picture below. Third, there is very little bathroom counter space. This is large part due to huge amount of wasted space in since basin. This could have been cut into half or even third and use that space to have counters for needed toiletry items. See picture. Fourth, sink faucet is controlled by weird joystick device. See picture. You would have to center to joystick exactly at center. Anything else will let faucet run water. Why? Why can't they used simple faucet. Now, we had to think about centering the joystick to turn off the water, and we often didn't center exactly and water ran until we realized that it's not completely turned off. Fifth, there was window, but window faced building directly next door which was just feets away, and window was virtually useless. I guess there is no helping that in expensive Gangnam real estate. Finally and probably most upsetting to me was initial checking in experience. They only gave 1 keycard. In all three hotels that I stayed in Korea, keycard is not only for getting in an out of the room, you have to put it in room keycard slot to use anything in the room such as lights and AC unit. We have three people and if anyone leaves, they need to take card key with them, because person might be taking shower on in bathroom and unable to open the door. Other 2 hotels gave me 2 keys, and when I requested third key as we have 3 people in our party, they gave it without issue. This hotel won't unless I leave my driver licence or passport as collateral. I gve them my drivers licence to keep with them until I checked out to get 2nd cardkey, but this was very upsetting to me to leave such valuable item just for 2nd card key.
