Fox Hotel

STAY AWAY! Rooms are dingy, outdated, dark and reek of cigarette smoke. Also very far from all Seoul has to offer.. Checked in and checked out immediately! Thankfully I had booked through hotels.com so I was able to get a refund for 2 of the 3 nights booked. Do NOT stay here! Look for a hotel near Seoul station instead.

Never ever stay here. The cleaners are Chinese migrants working on minimum wage and they stole all my cash and jewelry from my room one day while cleaning. Checked the CCTV footage, they were the only ones who entered my room that day. The police are now investigating. They are dirty rotten thieves. They denied it of course. But the guilty looks on their faces said it all. Couldn't even look me in the eye. The hotel staff man also did nothing to help me and refused to call the police after I told him what happened. He was probably in on it too. NEVER EVER STAY HERE.

Very well located near markets, shops, bus stop, and Seoul National University subway station. Like other hotels/motels surrounding the subway station, this is basically a so-called love motel catering to short stay visitors but it also welcomes regular tourists. My parents stayed here for 2 weeks. Upon arriving late at night, they paid for their entire stay and received a discount for cash. It's pretty good value for the budget traveler. The room was smallish (although it had a bath tub that could seat 4!) but this was more than compensated for by the standard amenities. If you're just after somewhere to sleep after a day out and about, it's more than adequate. The staff were most obliging (and knew a little English) and the overall safety, privacy and service were superb. A whole range of shopping, eating, outdoor markets and even a sauna (jimjilbang) were nearby. Public transport by bus, taxi and subway were easy. My parents liked the location and inexpensive rates and would stay there again if they were ever back in Seoul. It's true there are no closets, but they got by without them. Also, they had to get use to a singing room somewhere in the street that played songs on a loop at night. After a night or two it wasn't a problem. There is no view to speak of, but you could open the window. Free bottled water, coffee and juice drinks were in the fridge in the room and in the downstairs kitchen (which also had free ice cream).
