Horreo

We had to change our plans and stayed at hotel Hórreo because we got sick on our Camino. Julie, at the front desk let us check in As soon as housekeeping finished cleaning our room. She was so nice to my friend and made her tea while we waited. We had a great room with two twin beds and big windows that opened to a tiny balcony and let in fresh air overnight. The shower had lots of hot water and was clean. The hotel is quite dated, but the location is fantastic! It was clean and the beds were very comfortable. We were basically only using the room to sleep and relax in. We didn’t stay in it much. It’s only about six blocks from the Cathedral de Santiago. We would definitely stay there again!

I was injured on the camino and decided to move forward to Santiago and leave early. I booked this hotel through booking.com. I figured based on the pictures, location and price that it would be a lovely place. I was charged €247 for a single room, one person staying. It was easy to find and well located. When I arrived the staff were super nice and got me into my room early and were very helpful. That was where the joy ended! The room was clean and the bed was ok. The wifi wouldnt connect in my room unless i stood at the end of the bed near the door. The TV didnt work and every time one of the rooms above flushed the toilet or used any water it sounded like the water was passing through my room as the pipes were clearly not noise insulated. The furniture was tired and the rooms so poorly soundproofed that I could hear the conversation in the room above mine, in detail! This room wouldnt have been bad for €90, i had much better hotels along the camino for much less money! I feel ripped off.

The staff was great except for the owner who was always seen scolding everyone including the customers. I was very upset to see this. The lobby is a little dark but generally the place is suitable for sleeping
