I have been a friend of Paradores for 20 years. In 2027 I will reach the Círculo level, for accumulating more than 3,000 points. Every year I take my vacations at Paradores, between 15 and 20 days, plus 10 or 12 more days during the year. And we had never found a Parador like this. Regardless of the fact that the building urgently needs a renovation, the cafeteria service has been horrible during these three days (I am still at the parador today). Incompetent waitresses, with unpleasant treatment. If you ask for some chips with your beer or wine, instead of olives, they tell you that they have run out. They told us that all three days. They can run out, but the next day there should be some. If you ask for honey for your tea, they tell you they don't have any. The club sandwich, which is common in all paradores, is ridiculous, without the normal ingredients, without accompanying it with chips, without asking if you want mayonnaise or another dressing, as they do in all the paradores. During yesterday afternoon, Thursday, July 23, we witnessed an embarrassing spectacle. A waitress spent at least two hours in conversation and loud laughter with a couple who was on the terrace, abandoning service to the rest of the customers. Even his colleagues were a bit pissed off, and it showed. During this morning, we went out in the morning, leaving the do-not-disturb sign on the door, because we were going to return to the room after coffee. In the end we decided to stay out and spend the morning around Gijón. I called the front desk, warning them of the situation, so they would tidy up the room. When we arrived at 4:00 PM, it was still not tidied up. When going to the front desk, they gave us the runaround, saying that since the do-not-disturb sign was on.... Despite insisting that that was why we had called, and that they told us they took note, they insisted that it was our fault. Honestly, after having visited and stayed in more than 80 Paradores in the last 15 years, it has been, by far, our worst experience. I don't think we will return, and it's a shame, because Gijón is a charming city.

It urgently needs a good remodeling. The air conditioning in several areas does not work, they put out fans, in our room the TV does not work and they have not replaced it, the room's air conditioning does not work either. The bathrooms are totally obsolete. A shame. Total disappointment, the employees are very friendly but it is not enough. Very expensive for what they offer.

Wonderful, located 10 minutes from San Lorenzo beach, just three minutes from the bus stops, next to El Molinón, tranquility and an unbeatable setting.
