Villa Rosario

My experience at this hotel was absolutely disappointing. I personally booked a room for one night at the front desk. The day before my arrival they called me to confirm that we would arrive that same night. I told them there was a mistake, since my reservation was for the following day, and I asked them to please find me a room for the correct date. They did so, but they informed me that, in addition to the room I was going to use, I also had to pay for the room reserved by mistake. The most surprising thing is that the wrong room cost €225 and included breakfast, while the new one cost €130 and did not include breakfast. If they ultimately had to find me a room for the next day, it is quite clear that there was an error in the reservation date. Their only explanation was that they had sent a confirmation email with the wrong date and that I should have checked it. After looking for it for a good while, I discovered that the email had gone to the spam folder. Curiously, I never received any confirmation email for the room I finally occupied, nor did they respond to the email I sent them. To top it off, they charged me the price of the more expensive room for the inferior room, claiming that was the amount corresponding to the initial reservation, but they made it very clear that breakfast was not included. In other words, I paid the price of a room with breakfast and was not entitled to it. Furthermore, the room was for two octogenarians, so the supposed loss for the hotel would have been, at worst, a coffee and toast for each. The establishment's lack of elegance and customer orientation is evident. To make matters worse, the room was uncomfortable, without a window, the hotel facilities are very basic, and the treatment from the reception staff was cold and quite unfriendly. Fortunately, the rest of our stay in Ribadesella took place in another hotel of the same category, with magnificent facilities, beautiful rooms, and attentive and friendly staff. The comparison could not have been more evident. A real shame to have had to spend a night in this establishment. I would not recommend it.

We have been coming to Hotel Villa Rosario for several years now, and the fact that is still one of our favourite hotels in the world speaks volumes. As well as being a beautiful and unique building in a perfect location, Villa Rosario exudes top class in all areas. Check in was as charming as ever, and our room is very well equipped and very comfortable. The breakfast system here is all about quality service, and instead of the ubiquitous buffets that you get elsewhere, you have personal service and freshly cooked food to order. The restaurant service is stylish, modern but in no way stuffy. As I alluded to at the beginning of my review, this is a fabulous hotel and we look forward to our next visit.

After nearly 5 weeks away from home this would be our favourite hotel. Charming character building, lovely room with a balconey, great location & on the seafront. One of the best breakfasts ever - served to order & a real treat.
