Mieres del Camino

We booked this hotel on the way home, after a few days in the Picos de Europa. We liked the cleanliness, the comfort of the beds, the friendliness of the employees, and the breakfast buffet. The “but” is that the restaurant was closed and after driving some km’s and arriving at 9:30 PM, we had to look for somewhere to eat (recommended by the girl at the front desk)

We stayed in Mieres at the Hotel Mieres del Camino for 5 nights in August. Reception was welcoming and helpful. There is a 15 minute parking bay outside the hotel entrance to facilitate unloading baggage, and also a large area of derelict land adjacent for free car parking. We chose a Comfort Double Room and were delighted. The view out through the full height windows was bright and cheery and the double glazing cancelled out traffic sound completely. The hotel Restaurant was closed during August but it is just a 10 minute walk from a pedestrian street of bars, cafés and restaurants, including special Asturian Cider Restaurants. There was plenty of wardrobe capacity for two people for 5 nights, the air conditioning was very effective and the bathroom shower hot and powerful. During our stay, Reception Staff were always friendly and helpful and house-keeping made up our room consistently beautifully. Would happily return!

We recently spent one night at this hotel while walking the Camino San Salvador. We arrived early and while many a hotel would say come back later. Alice, the woman at reception, without batting an eyelid, worked to get one room ready for us so that we could change and rest. It was a simple act of kindness but we were very grateful for it. The hotel itself is well thought out, from the lovely dining area to the bottled water fountain at reception. Our rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. This hotel was our favourite place to stay while on the Camino. Thank you Mieres and thank you Alice!
