Hotel Dona Maria

Old-fashioned hotel far from the center, located in a working class neighborhood. The rooms are on the first floor and there is no elevator. Upon arriving at the room it was very hot, and the air conditioning was noisy spoiled, dirty and disgusting. The room was tiny and dated. For 85 euros without breakfast I found it a real steal.

I chose the hotel based purely on location (closest one to where the friends I was visiting live) and was absolutely fine for what I needed. I ended up working on my laptop at the little desk in my room a lot more than expected and the WiFi didn't drop once. Staff were friendly, room & hotel clean, a little noisy but it's on the main road with a restaurant underneath (which opens much later than it says online) but the windows keep the worst of the noise out. Given 4/5 as they do the leave the key at reception when you leave the hotel thing - while I understand this in terms of loss prevention and knowing who is in the hotel in an emergency, there was often noone to hand it to forcing you to leave it on the desk and hope noone else picked it up, which doesn't make you feel like your work laptop is very secure in your room! However, overall, I would stay there again.

The attitude of the hotel staffs was bad, not helpful. There was no wifi in my room, when the staff told me some rooms have very weak connection and suggest me to sit in the lobby, which is very incovenient. The swimming pool is so small, only comparable to a sauna pool. Aside from being spacious, the hotel is old and weary. There are lots of hotels around that can be chosen.
