The reason is that in addition to being a beautiful monastery, it has a team of people that is not commonly found in terms of professionalism and friendliness.

Historic large monastery in the middle of nowhere, the archaeological display, monk’s cell, the reading room and the library are interesting and good to visit, but apart from going on a nature trail or booking a wine sampling, there isn’t much going on around here. They’ve taken the monastery theme to the extreme in the rooms - the monk’s cell had more useful furniture, but the bathrooms are very nice. Intended to eat dinner in the restaurant, but having been told to pick any table, we were then told very firmly to move, as that one had been laid for three! So we did, to exactly the same size table on the other side of the room. We then waited to order, but no one came with any offer of a drink or bread for over 25 minutes, so we left and had virtually the same meal in the bar! Told the lady on reception about this experience but she wasn’t interested. We ate in the courtyard outside the bar, on the second night and as both the barmen and the very hard working waitress were lovely and helpful, we had a very nice meal in good time.

Almost mystical place, for those who seek to spend a few days in a tranquil environment. Fantastic facilities (bedroom, dining areas...)
