APARTMENTS EUROPA

We stayed here overnight as we arrived by train to Barcelona Sants station which is five minutes away before catching a train the next morning. We got an email to say that reception would not be open and we were offered directions on what to do and where to collect our key. The accommodation is an apartment block - there are plenty of shops and restaurants around. The rooms are basic and it doesn't feel 100% safe. But I stayed here for a night with my five year old and it was fine. I wouldn't have liked to stay longer.

We stayed at the hotel/ apartment for 7 nights, and we were a bit nervous of what to expect because we read some bad reviews, but we had a nice stay and location was really good only few minutes walking distance to the metri (green and blue line) and big train station there as well so getting around was easy! The hotel is more of a small appartment with kitchen, bathroom, and balcony aswell as living and bedroom, so we had plenty of space and it was very nice to be able to cook a bit yourself and enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony, we had three supermarkets within 5 min walk. We got there past midnight so had to pick up the key in the parking house next to which worked out easily, and next morning we went to the reception, very nice staff not so good with English but helpful and we got the help we needed with extra towels and pillows so was good. Also no WiFi there but we spent all day walking around the city and in the evening relaxing and talking so it was actually a good Thing not having internet :) but all in all the hotel is located well and if you like self service and enjoy cooking, and having more of that home feeling living this way, the hotel is definitely worth recommending, just don't except normal hotel standards and you will be positively surprised! We would stay here again.

Please don't ignore and read this review completely as it is very important message. Sorry about keeping the content long but our shocking experience experience requires such long reviews. I am very sad and still shocked to bring it to your notice that in Apartmentos-Europa, Barcelona hotel my luggage having valuables not less than 1440 Euros including 2 cell phones( iPhone 5S and Moto G) was stolen. I stayed there with my wife on a leisure trip of Barcelona for 2 nights (12th and 13th Aug), which turned out to be nightmare for us. I have already lodged a Police case with Barcelona Police. I believe that the theft is done by this very Hotel (staff) only. Here are the details- I left the Hotel at morning 9 AM on 13th Aug and locked my room (Room Num 4 on 6th floor). My wife left her bag in the Hotel room thinking it is safe enough. How could we even think that luggage could be stolen from closed hotel room. Still we curse ourselves for doing that but thankfully we carried our passports along. We had checked in on 12th Aug but we had to complete the registration formalities as we arrived after 3PM on 12th and Hotel reception is only available between 9 AM to 3 PM and we were required to go to reception to complete check in formalities. Also I had to request the Hotel reception for early check out on 14th Aug as to catch a flight early morning. I won't complain about the ghost like rooms, pathetic smell or horrible atmosphere of the Hotel as many people who have stayed there have already exposed this to the brim so I will only stick to the theft incident. So coming to the point, while leaving we went to reception to complete registration formalities and informed the person sitting there that we have early morning flight to catch next day so what is the procedure for check out. He informed us to just put the keys in the reception room through door hole. By the way reception is a small room on 5th Floor of the Apartmentos Europa hotel. Whole day we went to different tourist attraction points of Barcelona. When we returned to the hotel in the evening at around 6PM we found the door was LOCKED the same way but when we opened it, my wife's bag which had many branded clothes, MAC accessories, jewelleries, one iPhone 5S and one Moto G and other items worth at least 1440 Euros. Other than my wife's bag everything else like my used clothes etc was exactly on its place. There was an enveloped having hotel stay receipt inside the room which I think was slipped in from the door of our room. Reception was already closed by that time. We tried to reach out the Hotel numbers known but nobody even picked up. It is certain and I have NOT even an iota of doubt that it is someone from Hotel only as there was NO sign of any burglary. Everything was placed where it should be. Thankfully we didn't keep our passports in the hotel else we had to take a lot of trouble. Then somehow we called emergency number and informed Police there. They came and checked the room. Language was a barrier as we don"t speak or understand spanish. We had to go to nearest Police office to get our case lodged with all the details- spent around 2 hours in all this while we were supposed to enjoy the trip. With very heavy heart and bad impression of Barcelona we boarded the next day morning flight. I already have written to the Hotel email id reservas@jbcenter.es but no-one from the hotel even called me up or reply to me with a sorry, forget any enquiry. We are thinking of filing a lawsuit against this Hotel for such malicious practice once I check with my Consulate. BTW We are Indian couple currently staying in Germany. This is outrageous. Didn't expect this from a hotel in Barcelona- what a shame. I will write my experience in all the social networking sites and would make everyone aware about this Hotel of thieves so that everyone think twice before booking with this hotel ever again. If anybody else also experienced similar experience please come forward. We need to get this Hotel delisted and blocked from all portals including Hotels.com, Booking.com Tripadvisor etc so that noone has to undergo such trauma. Let us help each other and spread this message to as many people as possible.
