Confortel Almirante

I have several things to report; the first is that the images presented on the cover on Booking are not truthful. A standard room is very different in reality. Fortunately, after reporting this and paying a supplement, we were accommodated with an upgrade. Despite the upgrade, the room still has many things that should be fixed. Let's consider that we are talking about a 4-star hotel, so I expect a certain quality; otherwise, I would have chosen something else. I report that: -we had two separate beds -the bidet still had the factory label attached (in addition to the dirt behind it, a sign of cleaning never done; just look at the attached photos) -a weed growing on the terrace (out of pity, we removed it ourselves) -the plaster coming down from the window -the towel rack half detached -the shower that did not drain well -the door, which was not insulated anyway and did not even close well because there was a gap that let you see outside. Maybe we are too picky, but the property charged us (considering we stayed for 1 week), and consequently, we expected a certain quality. In conclusion, we asked for a late check-out at 4:00 PM the previous evening and were accommodated with a supplement. The following morning at 10:00 AM, the cleaning lady knocked on our door telling us that we had to leave the room, which left us a bit surprised because our original check-out was at 12:00 PM. So we preferred to ask for confirmation of the matter to be sure, and we were told that everything was okay. Spoiler: we returned to the room and the key no longer opened the door, so we had to go back down and waste time figuring out what the problem was; they simply had not notified each other at the reception. The hotel looks very good in the images, and we were sorry to find a different situation. I believe there is a lack of someone in charge of maintenance because the rooms are very neglected, and for a 4-star hotel, this is not acceptable.

I reserved a trip from Finland to this hotel, as the location was excellent and the room had twin beds, convenient for brothers. The price was also lower than most hotels of similar rating. The service was great and the room was decent and very clean, and had everything needed for a short, non-working trip: fridge, safe, water boiler and complementary selection of teas, cafes, milks and sugar (they also had decaf). For a longer stay where I would have liked to work on writing or via net, I would have liked a desk and a slightly bigger room. Perhaps the hotel has those, but you have to ask. The breakfast was the high point of our stay: great selection of local meats, cheeses, fruits, and of course eggs, bacon and toast, not to mention cereals, juices and coffee/tea. Also sweet bakery products, which were delicious. The gym was 24 hours and nice, even having canned water for the guests, but a bit small - again, not optimal for a stay longer than a week. We had good time and have no real complaints - we were apprehensive of the mixed reviews but left satisfied.

We went for a trip lasting a week with my brother, and chose this hotel due to location, affordable price, and the fact that it had separate beds for us two. We were slightly apprehensive due to some mediocre reviews. Getting there we were pleasantly surprised: the ovelall atmosphere was nice, our room was quite silent and perfectly serviceable - the small fridge instead of a minibar was nice (I dislike minibars and need a fridge for perishable snacks) as was the complementary coffee/tea selection along with a hot water boiler. The only minus was no desk or a table - sometimes I bring my laptop and work to a trip, this hotel would not be optimal for that. The breakfast was excellent, quality ingredients and great selection of traditional catalan meats, fruits, and all such. The staff was polite and attentive. The cleaners also did a great job and at no point did I see any uncleanliness in the room, even though the building was old. The gym was 24 hours - quite small but serviceable for such a trip. I cannot stress enough how good the location is - right in the heart of Barri Gotic, which is an extremely charming area, and not too far from either the beach, Montjuic, or Sagrada Familia. The overall atmosphere was quite charming and sort of low-key in the hotel, and we quite enjoyed our stay. Recommendable for the location, breakfast and friendliness, but be mindfull that at least our room had no writing desk.
