Studios Pelayo

I made a reservation in this guest house "Estudios Pelayo Guest House". When I was in Barcelona, I got the idea to look for the hotel before get it. I was surprise to observe nothing identify the hotel, I ringed the bell but nobody answered me, I could enter when a guy was leaving the house, the lobby was very dirty and the ceiling was broken, I searched for the reception but I observe no reception at all, I took the elevator to find somebody to informe me, the elevator stoped between two levels and jammed there, I ring the bell a long time, finally somebody talked to me and called a repairer, I waited a long time there prisonner of the elevator, the repairer came finally et I could leave out of there. I was with a friend.

This is a no-frills, clean place to lay your head. Spent one night. The staff were friendly, the room and sheets were clean and the rate was 39€. It was all I needed. I would recommend for those who need value over amenities. Be sure you know where you're going, because there isn't much of a sign. If you don't know where to look, you'll miss it.

Great location to stay, placa catalunya is just a 5 min walk on the same round. Guesthouse is literally between universetat and catalunyra metro station, and close to the hop on/off bus stops. It did mean night time on the weekends can be noisy; mid-week nights were fine. Entrance door is very inconspicuous. There is a buzzer on the no.5 property, but no other signs. rooms were clean, basic. Towels were offered on arrival, had handsoap, kettle, mugs, and few tea spoons. Room we got was the bigger one on 2nd floor which came with a stove and microwave too, along with dishwashing liquid and pans to cook with. Staff are friendly - although slightly difficult to get hold off. There isn't much of an open reception system. They're only on-site fixed hours, apart from that, you would have to call them on phone.
